Ordered crispy oyster omelette and it was crispy but burned. You'll have the taste of the burned egg

Ordered the crispy oyster omelette, and while it was crispy, it was also burned. You could taste the burned egg. The oysters also tasted bitter and off. The main point of an oyster omelette is the oyster, but I only managed to eat 2-3 pieces. My other order was the Hokkien mee, which had a so-so taste. It's not something I'd order again. Tenderbest's fried chicken skin tasted the same as at any other branch, which is a positive note. Overall, if I crave these dishes, I'll skip this place and try somewhere else.

The premise is called Kedai Kopi @ Haig Road. Hawkerman Street Kitchen is just one of the many stalls in the food court. It seems most reviewers don't make this distinction, as some reviews (both positive and negative) are actually based on food from other stalls. Funnily enough, when they receive a low rating due to other stalls, they are quick to respond and point this out. However, at the same time, they have no problem silently accepting a slew of positive, misdirected ratings. These ratings are likely inflating their score, as there's no way their food warrants a 4-star experience. We tried two dishes from this stall, and both were a letdown. In the picture, you can see their oyster omelette consists of discrete thin slices of egg and patches of batter. Oyster omelettes should have more volume. (I noticed the menu name is "crispy oyster omelette," to be exact. I'm unsure if "crispy" is meant to add another dimension to the typical oyster omelette.) Also, some parts were just gloppy strands of uncooked batter. As for the Hokkien mee, it was too wet, probably due to an incorrect technique – which is to add the stock ladle by ladle and let it almost evaporate before adding the next. The Hokkien mee was literally stewing in the stock. By rights, the liquid should be heavily reduced and somewhat "suspended" amongst the noodles. It should definitely not be a noodle soup dish. Putting aside the consistency, the dish barely had any flavour. So, even if we disregard the expectation of what Hokkien mee should be, we didn't enjoy the dish on its own.

The menu seems to show some potential but the quality of the food preparation and lack of ingredient

The menu shows some potential, but the quality of the food preparation and the lack of ingredients are a letdown. The Hokkien mee is the wet type and the gravy is quite flavourful, but you only get prawns and eggs. There's no squid and very little else. The chilli has some kick but is one-dimensional and very different from other Hokkien mee chilli; it seems like a cross between oyster omelette and chicken rice chilli. The carrot cake, even the black version, is tasteless. There aren't enough eggs to go with the underseasoned radish cake pieces. So bland.

Price: 4/5 Food: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 It is a nice restaurant to dine at. There is enough room to seat 40 people. A wide variety of Western and Asian food is available to choose from. Due to the cold environment, food does get cold quickly, so one may spend less time chilling, eating, and talking. Overall, this place is suited for family and friends, and it is not crowded.

Hawkerman, Haig Road: Elevated hawker fare at incredible prices of $5. It’s amazing they’re not declaring this as fusion Singaporean food and touting it at a fancy shophouse with high prices. It’s our new favourite local joint in the Malay quarters of Haig Road / Joo Chiat. #eatstylishtravelstylish

Was in the area and gave this stall a try for the first time. I went with the dry mee siam ($5). The service was good, and I received my meal fast. The food tasted delicious; the combination of the noodles, egg, prawn, and anchovies created a scrumptious meal. There was also a good portion spread across the plate, making it quite worth the relatively low price.

Good, good, good. Lovely hawker fare in a shopping mall. I understand it's part of the Tendefresh group. I love the Nasi Lemak; it's something we always order. It was of good value at less than $10. Look at the serving – it was generous! The signature platter was quite a big serving and priced at about $32 (quite pricey). The popiah (spring roll) and prawn noodle (with prawns and squid) were fairly nice. The place gets quite crowded after 6:00 pm on weekends. If you have a bigger family, do arrive earlier. Enjoy!

Delighted to find this chic hawker spot at Haig Road! The Dry Laksa was rich, the Assam Laksa tangy

Delighted to find this chic hawker spot at Haig Road! The Dry Laksa was rich, the Assam Laksa tangy and satisfying, and the Dry Mee Siam had perfectly springy noodles. Loved the Chye Poh Char Kway Teow with wok hei and crispy chicken skin, and the Oyster Omelette was chewy and perfectly paired with spicy-sour chili. The Mee Jawa Goreng was a flavorful delight. Highly recommend!
