Established in the early 1990s with humble beginnings as a Middle Eastern-based catering service for Hajj travellers, the restaurant has evolved over three decades into Singapore's most celebrated Nasi Padang destination, with strategic locations at Jalan Pisang near Arab Street, Joo Chiat, and Kitchener Road that serve both local communities and international visitors seeking authentic regional flavors. Their complete halal certification ensures that their time-honored recipes and traditional cooking methods remain accessible to all communities while maintaining the cultural authenticity that has earned them recognition as custodians of Singapore's Malay culinary heritage.

The extensive menu at Hjh Maimunah showcases over 100 meticulously prepared items that span the complete spectrum of traditional Malay and Indonesian cuisine, featuring legendary signature dishes like Beef Rendang with its complex spice layers, Ayam Bakar Sunda with authentic grilling techniques, Lemak Siput Sedut celebrating traditional seafood preparations, and Tahu Telur representing classic comfort food excellence. Their approach to Nasi Padang follows authentic traditions where diners select from an abundant spread of pre-prepared dishes, each crafted using recipes passed down through generations and prepared fresh daily using traditional methods that create the intense, complex flavors that distinguish authentic regional cuisine from simplified adaptations. The comprehensive selection ranges from delicious fried snacks and flavorful kampung dishes to sumptuous home-made desserts, ensuring that every meal represents a complete cultural and culinary journey through the rich traditions of Malay and Indonesian cooking.

Hjh Maimunah's sustained success and Michelin recognition stem from their unwavering commitment to authenticity, quality consistency, and cultural preservation that transcends typical restaurant operations to become cultural ambassadors for traditional Southeast Asian cuisine. Their island-wide delivery services, elegant buffet catering, mini buffet options, and bento box offerings demonstrate their adaptability to contemporary dining needs while maintaining traditional preparation standards, making authentic Malay cuisine accessible for corporate events, family gatherings, and religious observances. The restaurant's reputation for delivering intensely flavorful dishes without excessive oil or grease, combined with their role in introducing generations of Singaporeans to authentic regional flavors, positions them as both culinary institution and cultural treasure that continues to educate palates while preserving the authentic tastes that define Singapore's rich Malay culinary heritage for future generations.

9/7 5:20PM - Hajjah Maimunah Yishun's staff on duty were deliberately rude! I waited in line, only for two staff members to push each other to take my order. There was no queue at that point, and both were busy fiddling with their personal bags. They were talking to each other, and when I pointed to ask about a dish, specifically the 'Beef Rendang' at the front, the male staff kept asking, 'Yang mana ni ke ni?' I kept pointing to the one in front and had to raise my voice, thinking he couldn't hear. He clearly showed his agitation and said, 'Dia yang tunjuk blablablabla...' to the other female staff, assuming I couldn't hear because I had my headphones on. Mind you, no music was playing, which is why I heard him CLEARLY! Of course, I stormed off! Wake up your ideas. Discipline and train your staff again, Hajjah Maimunah! Service has dropped!! And to that male staff, you're clearly Malaysian. You come to someone else's country to earn a living, work properly, don't show such behavior!! It's a shame, the food is delicious but the customer service is VERY DISAPPOINTING!

Checked in at 9 am. Too expensive, and the taste is below average. No à la carte mee goreng. Must be a $5 set – mee goreng plus one vegetable. $2.50 for quail eggs. The vegetables were old and hard. Quail eggs were overcooked and hard. The mee goreng was oily and plain, with bits of fishcake and hardly any eggs or meat visible.

Went here for breakfast and ordered the nasi goreng and kway teow, each costing $5. We also got a few side dishes: sambal goreng, 2 fried eggs, and 2 begedil. The total came to a whopping $16. I was quite shocked by the price but decided to give the benefit of the doubt, hoping the taste would at least be okay. Unfortunately, both the nasi goreng and kway teow tasted very plain, almost close to tasteless. The sambal goreng lacked enough salt, making it very bland. The begedil was nice, and the egg was... well, an egg. The sambal tumis was okay, leaning more towards the non-spicy and sweet side. All in all, we were disappointed with the food, especially at this price point. We were even more disappointed that a well-established brand is serving this type of food. I could name a few other places in Yishun that offer better food at better prices. This will be the last time we visit, and we most probably won't be patronizing their other outlets.

Worst Experience! I ordered from grab: Nasi Ambang (without beef) specifically as I’m a Hindu and I

Worst experience! I ordered Nasi Ambang from Grab, specifically requesting it without beef as I am Hindu and cannot consume beef. However, I received beef in my food. Initially, I didn't realize it was beef. We tried a few pieces and found the taste odd, so we stopped eating and discarded the entire meal. I contacted Grab, and they stated their restaurant assured no beef was added. But after I asked them to identify the meat we felt was beef, they said they couldn't tell what meat it was as the staff was unsure. How can that be? You were the ones who prepared and packed the food, and it's definitely a daily procedure. We also checked the menu we ordered from, and it doesn't include such an item in our Nasi Ambang. We haven't received a proper answer yet. Props to Grab for helping us out, but I'm truly disappointed with this restaurant, especially since I had heard good reviews. It's truly saddening.

Had lunch at Hjh Maimunah Yishun twice, and they served a variety of dishes from non-spicy to spicy. They also have lontong, mee bakso, and mee soto if you're looking for something simple. The taste is great; I would have expected more spice, but I guess they cater to the Singaporean style :). This place is located in a food court, so it's not fancy and can be slightly hot. The price is reasonable with big portions. 1 chicken + 1 tempeh vege is around $6.50.

They are in a Muslim food court, and there is no air conditioning, so it's hot during the daytime. Their prices are on the pricey side, at $5.50 for rice with 3 vegetables. However, they give a substantial amount, so you get really full after eating . Their staff are quite friendly and pleasant. Check them out if you like Malay Nasi Padang; they have many dishes to choose from, and the taste is quite okay.
