Old Times, located at 2 Bukit Panjang Ring Road in the heart of the Bukit Panjang residential estate, serves as a neighborhood dining establishment that embodies the essence of traditional Singapore coffee shop culture. This local restaurant caters to the everyday dining needs of residents in the Bukit Panjang area, offering a comfortable and familiar environment where families and individuals can enjoy affordable, home-style meals without the need to venture into the city center. The restaurant's strategic location within the residential zone makes it a convenient gathering place for the local community, from working professionals seeking quick lunch options to families looking for casual dinner venues.\n\nAs a neighborhood Chinese restaurant, Old Times likely specializes in the type of comfort food that defines Singapore's local dining scene – dishes that combine traditional Chinese cooking techniques with local tastes and ingredients that have evolved over generations in Singapore. The menu typically features the kind of zi char (economy rice) selections, noodle dishes, and family-style preparations that form the backbone of everyday dining for many Singaporean families. These establishments often serve as informal community centers where neighbors meet, families celebrate simple occasions, and the rhythm of daily life unfolds over shared meals that reflect both heritage and local adaptation.\n\nThe significance of restaurants like Old Times extends beyond mere food service – they represent the preservation of neighborhood dining culture in an increasingly urbanized Singapore. In residential areas like Bukit Panjang, such establishments provide essential social infrastructure, offering spaces where multiple generations can dine together and where food traditions are passed down through daily practice rather than special occasions. The restaurant's presence in the community reflects the ongoing importance of accessible, unpretentious dining options that serve the real needs of working families, elderly residents, and young people who form the fabric of Singapore's heartland areas. Through consistent service and familiar flavors, Old Times contributes to the sense of place and community that makes neighborhood living in Singapore both comfortable and culturally rich.

I went here and before ordering, I specifically told the auntie that I wanted take-away and the gravy separate. After ordering, she mixed the gravy together. When I told her to separate the gravy, she said I didn't. What's funny is that I bought three items all with gravy: mee soto, laksa, and lontong. She packed the mee soto gravy separately. Weird! Yet she still insisted I didn't inform her well in advance. Then, during payment, she told me off, saying I should inform her early and not at the last minute. I guess she's tired and old.

Bought the jemput jemput. It was inedible, just all flour with not even a hint of banana. It tasted super weird. Had to discard everything. Very disappointed. * Not sure how authentic it is or if it was sourced from a supplier factory.

Ordered mee siam and I found it a bit bland, lacking the expected sour/sweet taste. Don't patronise if you're short on time. The queue was due to the staff preparing the food being rather slow. She needed three attempts just to get the mee siam bee hoon onto the plate. There seemed to be quite a number of staff in the stall, but only one appeared to be serving food.

The aunty who sells lontong/mee siam is very nice. The price is reasonable and the quality is good. However, the Malay aunty who shares the same stall and sells snacks has a very bad attitude.

My family's go-to spot for tea time snacks! Their goreng pisang and popiah are always very hot and crispy! Haven't tried their main dishes yet, but their snacks section is great with different varieties. The mak cik is also very cute and friendly! Recommend eating with a cup of hot teh tarik – it's confirm shiok. The stall is in Kampung Admiralty foodcourt, around the Halal section.

As the name suggests, they sell traditional Malay dishes and classics, including dishes like tahu goreng. The quantity is pretty good for the prices, and most dishes we've tried have been really, really good.

First time at Kampung Admiralty Hawker Centre, and I tried the Lontong ($3.50 with additional pieces of tau kua). The taste is good, and I liked the soup. The stall also sells many varieties of food, so try it out if you're there. I loved the atmosphere too.
