Umi's Spices brings authentic Malay home-style cooking to Singapore's heartlands, with outlets at Fernvale Community Centre and Harbourfront Centre's Boleh Boleh food court. This Muslim-owned establishment specialises in nasi padang—the beloved Indonesian-Malay buffet-style dining experience where diners select from an array of pre-cooked dishes displayed prominently at the stall front.

The core of Umi's Spices' appeal lies in their rotating selection of richly spiced dishes that showcase the depth of Malay culinary traditions. Regular offerings include asam pedas with its tangy-spicy gravy, tender rendang simmered in coconut and spices, masak merah featuring bold tomato-chilli flavours, and sambal goreng vegetables that pack aromatic heat. Beyond nasi padang, the stall also serves comforting bowls of lontong—compressed rice cakes in coconut vegetable curry—and warming mee soto that appeals to those seeking soup-based meals.

Operating within neighbourhood hawker centres and food courts, Umi's Spices caters to the local crowd looking for affordable, filling meals that deliver authentic home-cooked flavours. The Fernvale outlet in particular has built a steady following in the Sengkang area, often drawing queues during peak lunch and dinner hours as customers wait to pick their preferred combination of dishes. Portion options range from small to large, allowing diners to adjust their orders based on appetite and budget.

As a fully halal-certified establishment, Umi's Spices provides Muslim diners with the assurance of proper halal compliance while serving up the kind of robust, flavourful Malay cooking that resonates across generations.

On 11 June 2025, my two Indonesian friends visited your stall at Harbourfront. Upon eating the rice, one of them found it to be undercooked. He returned it to the stall to inform them, but they initially ignored him. His female friend then brought the rice back again and, in an angry tone, requested a change, which they then provided. The staff were very rude. They should be sent for a customer service course. If this type of attitude is shown again, I will complain to the NEA or HSA. Please do not tell me your staff are too busy; that day, your stall had four staff members managing it. Thank you.

OVERCHARGE. B.A.Y.O.R (buy at your own risk). Nasi Small chicken wing Telur Bergedil $6?!? Maan, $6! I could’ve bought the Nasi ayam penyet goreng that’s opposite your stall.

Those who gave 1 star mainly for the price, you must be living in 2010. Please wake up and have more

Those who gave 1 star mainly for the price, you must be living in 2010. Please wake up and have more knowledge of rising costs and rental in Singapore. This shop has the same average price as any other nasi padang I've been to. Anyways, I was really craving nasi ambeng/nasi padang, and they totally fulfilled my cravings for lunch today. The sambal belacan tops it all, delicious and authentic. Devoured my lunch in less than 10 minutes, hahahha. Ask for less rice if you're particular; they give quite a big portion for everything.

Was surprised to see the low reviews for this shop. The dishes were good especially the lemak ayam.

I was surprised to see the low reviews for this shop. The dishes were good, especially the ayam lemak. While most nasi padang stalls would have red in the meat, this one was white throughout and tender. The price is reasonable. If you think it's expensive, then don't eat out and just cook your own food instead of giving 1-star reviews for the price, LOL.
