I've always wanted to visit Bara Food, and finally had the chance since I was in the area. Tucked behind Two Men Bagel House in Icon Village Altez, this cozy spot offers an exceptional dining experience with dishes bursting with authentic Indonesian flavors and beautiful presentation.
The Eggplant Sambal (Terong Balado) featured perfectly cooked eggplant slices smothered in a vibrant and spicy sambal sauce, complemented by fresh lettuce on the side. Every bite was rich, smoky, and full of umami.
The Ayam Goreng Cabe Ijo consisted of crispy fried chicken generously topped with a fragrant and spicy green chili sambal. The sambal hijau had a vibrant kick and paired beautifully with the juicy fried chicken. Served with banana leaf-wrapped rice, fresh vegetables, and sambal, this dish was both hearty and flavorful.
The Ayam Goreng Serundeng was another standout. The fried chicken was topped with crispy, golden-brown spiced coconut flakes, adding a delightful crunch and aromatic richness. The chicken was tender and flavorful, served alongside classic sides like fried tempeh, tofu, and sambal.
The presentation of each dish was impeccable, and the sambals delivered a bold kick without overpowering the natural flavors of the ingredients. The ambiance was cozy, and the service was attentive and friendly.
I highly recommend this spot for anyone craving authentic Indonesian cuisine in Singapore. I'll definitely be back to try more from their menu!

Such enjoyable food here in this outlet. Fragrant! The grilled chicken I had was very nicely grilled with hints of charcoal taste, making it super. The sauce served with the chicken was very enjoyable too. The portion is very big; even my dad, who is a big eater, said he was well filled. Service was quick. The restaurant is tastefully decorated. I enjoyed the meal and will return again!

We enjoyed a satisfying meal at Bara, where the grilled chicken set truly impressed. The chicken was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The accompanying tempeh and tofu side dishes were also delicious and complemented the chicken nicely. A great spot for Indonesian food enthusiasts. Recommended!

Tasty grilled rice with their chickens. Tried two dishes of chicken: fried and grilled with sweet soy sauce. Both were great.
The chili wasn't very spicy, but the portion was small. Luckily, the rest of my family members don't eat chili. I took four small plates of chili for my chicken portion.

The ayam bakar was a standout experience. The rice, beautifully wrapped in coconut leaf, was wonderfully fragrant and flavourful—savory, tasty, and the perfect complement to the main dish.
The grilled chicken itself was soft and tender, cooked just right, and coated in a sauce that struck a perfect balance in both taste and consistency. Every bite felt satisfying without being overly heavy.
It came paired with tempeh and a vibrant chilli sambal that brought a punch of authentic Indonesian flavour to the plate.
Also ordered the bakwan jagung (corn fritters), which were impressively crispy and light, a great side to round out the meal.
Overall, this was a delicious and genuinely authentic Indonesian dining experience I’d gladly repeat.
