Woodlands MRT Station (NS9/TE2) is a major interchange station connecting the North South Line and Thomson-East Coast Line in the heart of Woodlands. The elevated North South Line station completed on 10 February 1996, featuring a distinctive circular, barrel-like roof with beige and green tiles that has become an iconic landmark in the northern region. The station made history on 31 January 2020 when it became Singapore first station to integrate an interchange with an underground Thomson-East Coast Line platform beneath an elevated station. The station pioneered innovative design by being the first MRT station to incorporate an underground bus interchange directly beneath the NSL platforms, creating a seamless intermodal transport hub.
