Cat & the Fiddle has pioneered Singapore's premium halal dessert market as the city's first online halal-certified cheesecake specialist, founded by award-winning celebrity chef Daniel Tay, who also established the renowned Bakerzin brand. This innovative bakery concept revolutionized dessert accessibility for Muslim consumers by obtaining halal certification for artisanal cheesecake production, creating a market segment that previously didn't exist in Singapore's dessert landscape. The brand has been recognized by Time Out Singapore as one of the 'Best cake shops in Singapore,' demonstrating that halal certification and premium quality are not mutually exclusive in the competitive dessert market.

The bakery's signature offering includes 18 varieties of gourmet cheesecakes ranging from faithful classics to Asian and local-inspired creations that reflect Singapore's multicultural palate. Their specially-composed medley cakes allow customers to experience 10 spectacular flavors in a single purchase, showcasing the kitchen's technical expertise and creativity in balancing diverse flavor profiles. Each cheesecake is crafted using fresh, premium ingredients and classical pastry techniques refined through Chef Daniel Tay's international training and experience. The brand's commitment to quality extends from ingredient sourcing through final presentation, ensuring that every cake meets the exacting standards expected from award-winning pastry craftsmanship.

After establishing a strong online presence, Cat & the Fiddle expanded to physical retail locations at Clarke Quay Central, City Square Mall, Junction 8 Shopping Centre, and Woods Square, offering customers both convenient online ordering with delivery options and personalized in-store experiences where they can sample cakes by the slice. This hybrid retail model demonstrates the brand's understanding of diverse customer preferences while maintaining operational efficiency. The bakery's success represents more than commercial achievement; it symbolizes the expansion of halal-certified premium dessert options in Singapore, proving that religious dietary requirements can be seamlessly integrated into high-end culinary experiences while maintaining the authenticity and quality that discerning dessert enthusiasts demand.

I had a very disappointing experience at the Punggol outlet. The staff were shockingly rude—one even rolled her eyes when I approached to place an order. This kind of attitude is unacceptable in any service setting.

The cakes were badly labelled (baked, half-baked, and non-baked). The cake I ordered was sponge and should have been half-baked, but it was labelled as non-baked. As for the soft-serve and waffles, the flavour was like frozen yoghurt or cheese? It wasn't specified, so I expected vanilla. The waffles were crispy and good, though! Recommend this place? Mixed feelings.

The promotion banner was placed behind the cookies instead of at the payment counter. How can customers be expected to notice it? After making payment, I noticed the promotion and informed the staff immediately, but unfortunately, they said it couldn't be changed. Cash payment was also not accepted without any prior notice at the counter. This felt disrespectful to our country's currency. I liked the cakes but not the services provided.

The slice of cake was really tiny. It was good in quality and flavour, but for the price paid, the slice ought to be more substantial. Rather disappointing. I need to check out the market for the size of slices at other cafes.

I came here for the Mao Shan Wang Durian cheesecake, but it was quite disappointing! The durian flavor was very mild, barely noticeable, and I’m not sure if it really lives up to the “Mao Shan Wang” name. The crust, sponge cake, and cream cheese felt like separate layers that didn’t come together well, making the overall taste underwhelming. The coffee tasted bland, like water. Will I come back again? Maybe not. Focus more on the product and quality; consumers will keep coming back for more!

As nice as the cakes are, at $5.90 per slice, they are on the smallish side though. There’s not much in terms of service: you place your order via a touchscreen at the entrance of the cafe, pay for your order at the same touchscreen, get your receipt, move to the counter, and wait for your order to be brought to you. There is no table service, making it pretty impersonal.

Great cheesecakes at reasonable prices, especially during promotions. Ordering online was a breeze: choose your cheesecake(s), select a delivery or collection date, and proceed to payment. For self-collection, driving there was easy. The cheesecake collected cannot be consumed immediately as it is frozen hard; it needs at least 3-4 hours to soften in the chiller. Note: don't let it sit out at room temperature for too long, as it will turn watery. The taste is creamy and well-balanced, a classic American cheesecake style minus the overpowering sweetness.

Couldn't decide which cake to buy, so I stood there for quite a while. The Indian staff member was very polite and patient. I ended up buying a slice of "Once in a Bluemoon"; the cake was fresh and delicious.

I just wanted to write feedback for this young man who served me and my colleagues very well on 22 Aug 2025. Thank you so much for your good service towards me and my colleagues, Danish. We really appreciate his kindness, even though his partner, another guy, was so rude and arrogant. But we love the way he solves our problems and always smiles towards customers without fail . Once again, thank you, Danish.

One of my favourite places for cheesecakes and birthday cakes. They make yummy cheesecakes that aren't too overpowering in cheesy taste, and some with local flavours. They sell whole cakes and slices as well. Booking online is easy. One day's advance booking is all they need for whole cakes. It's a hassle-free website that's easy to navigate and transact on. I can't remember if this was their first store, located in a light industrial area. It's good that the MRT has reached this area. It's just a few minutes' walk from Tai Seng MRT. Until next time...
