Cat & the Fiddle has pioneered Singapore's premium halal dessert market as the city's first online halal-certified cheesecake specialist, founded by award-winning celebrity chef Daniel Tay, who also established the renowned Bakerzin brand. This innovative bakery concept revolutionized dessert accessibility for Muslim consumers by obtaining halal certification for artisanal cheesecake production, creating a market segment that previously didn't exist in Singapore's dessert landscape. The brand has been recognized by Time Out Singapore as one of the 'Best cake shops in Singapore,' demonstrating that halal certification and premium quality are not mutually exclusive in the competitive dessert market.
The bakery's signature offering includes 18 varieties of gourmet cheesecakes ranging from faithful classics to Asian and local-inspired creations that reflect Singapore's multicultural palate. Their specially-composed medley cakes allow customers to experience 10 spectacular flavors in a single purchase, showcasing the kitchen's technical expertise and creativity in balancing diverse flavor profiles. Each cheesecake is crafted using fresh, premium ingredients and classical pastry techniques refined through Chef Daniel Tay's international training and experience. The brand's commitment to quality extends from ingredient sourcing through final presentation, ensuring that every cake meets the exacting standards expected from award-winning pastry craftsmanship.
After establishing a strong online presence, Cat & the Fiddle expanded to physical retail locations at Clarke Quay Central, City Square Mall, Junction 8 Shopping Centre, and Woods Square, offering customers both convenient online ordering with delivery options and personalized in-store experiences where they can sample cakes by the slice. This hybrid retail model demonstrates the brand's understanding of diverse customer preferences while maintaining operational efficiency. The bakery's success represents more than commercial achievement; it symbolizes the expansion of halal-certified premium dessert options in Singapore, proving that religious dietary requirements can be seamlessly integrated into high-end culinary experiences while maintaining the authenticity and quality that discerning dessert enthusiasts demand.

The cakes were badly labelled (baked, half-baked, and non-baked). The cake I ordered was sponge and should have been half-baked, but it was labelled as non-baked.
As for the soft-serve and waffles, the flavour was like frozen yoghurt or cheese? It wasn't specified, so I expected vanilla. The waffles were crispy and good, though!
Recommend this place? Mixed feelings.

I came here for the Mao Shan Wang Durian cheesecake, but it was quite disappointing! The durian flavor was very mild, barely noticeable, and I’m not sure if it really lives up to the “Mao Shan Wang” name. The crust, sponge cake, and cream cheese felt like separate layers that didn’t come together well, making the overall taste underwhelming. The coffee tasted bland, like water. Will I come back again? Maybe not. Focus more on the product and quality; consumers will keep coming back for more!

The self-service kiosk only had cake orders available. We then noticed a promotion for cake and drinks at $8.90 displayed at the counter. However, this promotion was not available on the machines. We asked the counter staff if we could top up to get the promo, but were rejected. We also asked if we could cancel our machine order and re-order using the promo, but that was also not possible. Essentially, you end up paying more if you use the self-ordering kiosk. We ended up paying $10 more for the cakes and drinks. So much for promoting self-help and so much for having a promotion. Badly organized operations!

The soft serve is salty, feeling like salty milk. As long as you get past the initial unusual taste, it's actually okay. The waffle cone is good. Milo with this is a strange combination, not the best I think.
Service was fast. The soft serve looks good. $6.90

As nice as the cakes are, at $5.90 per slice, they are on the smallish side though. There’s not much in terms of service: you place your order via a touchscreen at the entrance of the cafe, pay for your order at the same touchscreen, get your receipt, move to the counter, and wait for your order to be brought to you. There is no table service, making it pretty impersonal.

Nice place for gatherings! We came here on a weekend around 2pm, and it was less crowded.
They are famous for their cheesecake, and their cafe also offers wafers, which are nice!
You should try the wafer; the ice cream topping is yogurt ice cream.

What a great snack! We were brought here by our local friends who claimed these were the best cheesecakes, and they did not disappoint! We tried both the yuzu and durian flavors, and both were refreshing, decadent, and scrumptious! To wash them down, we ordered a latte and an iced lemon tea, which were both refreshing and delicious! This was a fabulous snack stop! The decor inside the store is contemporary and fun, especially the prints on the tables! Overall, a fabulous dining experience!

Dropped by Cat & the Fiddle Café for a quick treat, and overall, it was a decent experience with a mix of highs and lows.
I tried the Dark Chocolate cake, which was absolutely delicious. Rich in flavor but not overly sweet—just the way I like it. It had a smooth texture and deep cocoa taste that felt indulgent without being too heavy. Definitely a win for dark chocolate lovers.
On the flip side, the Mango Passionfruit cake was a bit of a letdown. The flavor combination was promising, but the inner creme was icy—almost like it had been stored too cold for too long. That icy texture threw off the smoothness of the cake and made it less enjoyable. It might have just been an issue with how it was stored or served.
The café latte was not bad—nothing mind-blowing, but it complemented the cakes nicely. A good balance of coffee and milk, with a smooth finish.
Service-wise, the staff were polite and welcoming. No complaints there. However, the table was a bit dirty when I sat down—crumbs and some sticky spots, which wasn’t ideal. I would’ve appreciated a quick wipe-down before being seated.
All in all, it’s a nice little spot for cake and coffee if you’re in the area. Just wish the presentation and storage were a bit more consistent.

Went to have a light snack. Cafe latte, Cheese cake. Coffee was ok. The Cheese cake was good. Nice
Went for a light snack, ordering a cafe latte and cheesecake. The coffee was okay, but the cheesecake was good, with a nice texture and a pleasant tart cheese flavour. I would highly recommend it.
Service was acceptable, with no complaints. The place was nice and bright, not crammed, and had good space between tables. It wasn't noisy, making it a good spot for a pleasant conversation.
