The menu extends beyond chicken to include Beef Ribs, Ayam Geprek, and Grilled Chicken preparations that showcase the versatility of Indonesian cooking techniques. Ordered Gado-gado, Sup Buntut, and Ayam Penyet. The bad: Music was extremely loud when we entered, but when we sat down, they lowered the volume to a much more bearable level. This place should really look into hiring a cleaner to tidy up. It's also pricey; I could get cheaper food at most of our air-conditioned food courts around the island. The good: The staff was nice and bothered to introduce dishes and give recommendations. However, it was a Sunday evening and there weren't many customers. Portions were pretty good. The taste: The Gado-gado lacked a few essential ingredients, e.g., bean sprouts. 5 out of 10. The Sup Buntut wasn't warm and tasted normal. 5 out of 10. The Ayam Penyet was also normal. It was crispy, and the rice was a good portion. 6 out of 10.

After reading so many positive reviews, we decided to have dinner here on a Thursday evening. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointing meal as the fried chicken was too dry, despite being a thigh piece. Frankly, many ayam penyet places at hawker centres offer much tastier chicken at a lower price point. Their teh tarik was good though.

I need to start finding delicious Ayam Penyat. This stall used to be my favourite, and I used to tell people they were the best. But today, everything has changed. A stall in some random kopitiam might taste better than this one. I'm not coming back anymore! $10.50 SUPER Dry Chicken Tasteless Chilli Everything is just bad... Take a look at the picture :(

Tucked away at City Plaza (away from the city, yet not too far) is this local restaurant serving some local delicacies. The ayam penyet (also known as "compressed chicken") was delightful. For those venturing into spicy food, the chilli paste is definitely hot to the palate.

This is an ayam penyet store worth trying out. It's located in City Plaza and has a cozy interior. During lunchtime, seats are usually available as it's a quiet mall. The ayam penyet was great, and I liked the crackers. The chilli was fragrant, but be warned that it is super spicy. If you prefer other types of chilli, they also offer four other varieties. If you don't like chilli, there are non-spicy options as well. Other than chicken, I also enjoyed their duck and promfet. Do try them out.

Recommended! The Ayam Penyet with rice comes with a selection of 5 different types of chillis. We tried the sambal belacan and belado; they were spicy and yummy. Good selection of drinks too! Will be back next time to try their Ayam Geprek!

The fried chicken (ayam penyet) is not dry and is quite crispy. The portion is sufficient too. I love the version with fresh green chilli sauce. You can ask for more sauce if needed. It’s an indoor air-conditioned restaurant, and the staff is friendly. There are plenty of seats for big groups too. It's halal certified. Prices start from $7.90 nett for a main dish. Beware of the red sambal chilli though, it’s really spicy! I felt that the side dish of tofu and tempe could be cheaper.

Ayam Geprek Mercon Food wise: A pretty delicious plate! The chicken was quite tender and slightly juicy. The chilli was supposed to be spread on top of the chicken, but to be safe, I requested it on the side as it was said to be spicy, and it certainly was! The chilli felt like the star of the show here. It also turned out they may have a variety of chilli: Hijau, Mercon, and others. I was given the sweeter red chilli, and there was another without sweetness, which was pure spice. I'm not sure what both were called, but one of them is definitely Mercon. The green chilli was fragrant and spicy! Dipping the keropok into the chilli was delicious! Ambience wise: Feels like a KFC kind of vibe! Service wise: Great! Friendly staff! When I requested to try the Hijau, they gave a generous portion! Price wise: $8

I've been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years, and honestly, the standard has remained the same throughout. The ingredients are fresh, and the portions are good. My whole family likes this place, even my older parents, as the meat and rice are soft and easy to chew, even for them. Oxtail soup and gado gado are among my favourites. The portion of soup and oxtail meat is generous, and the soup is very flavourful. It's excellent to have with rice or to drink on its own, especially on a cold day. The gado gado peanut sauce doesn't taste artificial and isn't the chunky kind, making it easy to eat in bite-sized portions. The kangkung belacan is just normal, though.
