Hei Sushi stands as a groundbreaking pioneer in Singapore's halal dining scene, proudly holding the distinction of being the city-state's first halal-certified Japanese conveyor belt sushi restaurant since its establishment in 2007. Created by the experienced team behind Sakae Sushi, this innovative concept emerged to fill a significant market gap by providing authentic Japanese cuisine that adheres to Islamic dietary requirements. With over 15 years of experience, Hei Sushi has revolutionized how Singapore's Muslim community experiences Japanese dining, transforming what was once an exclusive culinary experience into an inclusive one that welcomes diners of all backgrounds.
The restaurant's extensive menu showcases over 200 varieties of halal-certified Japanese dishes, featuring fresh sushi and sashimi prepared daily, an exciting conveyor belt system, steaming bowls of ramen, flavorful baked rice dishes, crispy tempura selections, and creative maki rolls. Each dish maintains the authentic Japanese flavor profiles while strictly adhering to MUIS halal certification standards, proving that religious dietary requirements need not compromise culinary excellence. The fun and trendy conveyor belt concept adds an element of entertainment to the dining experience, allowing guests to select their preferred dishes as they glide past their table while ensuring all ingredients meet halal standards.
With strategic locations across Singapore including Downtown East, IMM Shopping Mall, Sembawang Shopping Centre, and Woodlands Civic Centre, Hei Sushi has established itself as an essential destination for halal Japanese cuisine. The restaurant's success has paved the way for greater diversity in Singapore's halal dining landscape, demonstrating that traditional Japanese culinary techniques can be successfully adapted to meet religious dietary requirements. Despite the premium pricing that comes with specialized halal preparation and quality ingredients, Hei Sushi continues to serve as a beacon of culinary innovation, proving that inclusivity and authenticity can coexist in Singapore's dynamic food scene.

Handroll not nice at all.
There was a fish bone in the salmon sashimi, and the salmon sashimi wasn't very fresh. The handroll was not nice at all. They missed some of our orders despite reminders. We will definitely not return to this restaurant.

Heard their offerings are the same as Sakae Sushi. However, comparing my last visit before Covid to now, their menus have changed quite a lot. Not sure if they're still the same as Sakae Sushi too, but they've introduced a few new items on the menu that we've tried and they're not bad though.

I don't know where to start. From the moment we stepped in, they gave us the wrong QR code. Orders from another table came to ours. The sushi on the conveyor was not topped up frequently. I was waiting for the unagi, and there was only one piece throughout my lunch there. Orders were mixed up again midway through the lunch. Things got more complicated when paying the bill. The cashier keyed in double the amount and still expected payment even though the amount was wrong. After a tantrum and a system reset, that was a hell of a lunch. All this was happening while a male staff member was standing behind the register with his arms folded, doing nothing, as if he owned the place. And if he is the owner, condolences to Hei Sushi. Good luck!

I recently had an unfortunate dining experience at Hei Sushi, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment. The food was utterly tasteless, leaving much to be desired in terms of flavor and quality.
Starting with the tempura, it was a complete letdown. The batter tasted like nothing but plain flour, devoid of any seasoning or crispiness that you would expect from a decent tempura dish. It was bland and unappetizing.
The chawanmushi was equally horrible. It lacked the delicate, smooth texture and rich flavor that a proper chawanmushi should have. Instead, it was a watery, tasteless mess that I could barely finish.
When I provided feedback to the staff, their response was shocking. They had the audacity to tell me that they sell a lot of food every day, as if that somehow justified the poor quality of what they were serving. Quantity does not equate to quality, and in this case, the volume of sales does not make up for the lack of flavor and care in their dishes.
Overall, my experience at Hei Sushi was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a satisfying and flavorful meal.

Visited this outlet for the first time. The food is reasonable in both quality and price. However, my order for sashimi was not served until all my cooked dishes had arrived. It was only served when I questioned the staff, with no apology. Given that this outlet serves Japanese cuisine, surely it's the norm to serve raw dishes before cooked food.

The food is better than average. The unagi cheese baked rice is good, however the tempura salmon isn't really that good. Sushi, in general, is fresh and good as well.
The service is really top-notch, with friendly and professional staff. The environment is also cosy and comfortable.

A fantastic place for sushi delights of all kinds, including standards rolling by on the 'train'. Prices are right for the value, and everything was quite delicious in the end. Some must-haves are the baked cheese rice and the ebi mayo, with beautiful smoky flavours. Service was excellent and incredibly fast, even using a scooting robot to bring special orders and some mains.

Came on Father's Day for dinner. The restaurant's ambience is good - quiet with nice music. I also love the interior design. The best dish I ordered was the oysters. They were $18 for half a dozen, and each one was meaty and luscious. If you love oysters, you must come here!

Yummilicious sushi! We had the whole shop to ourselves as it was already 8pm. Despite that, they still served us with all smiles! The sushi was fresh and delicious, and reasonably priced.
