Hei Sushi stands as a groundbreaking pioneer in Singapore's halal dining scene, proudly holding the distinction of being the city-state's first halal-certified Japanese conveyor belt sushi restaurant since its establishment in 2007. Created by the experienced team behind Sakae Sushi, this innovative concept emerged to fill a significant market gap by providing authentic Japanese cuisine that adheres to Islamic dietary requirements. With over 15 years of experience, Hei Sushi has revolutionized how Singapore's Muslim community experiences Japanese dining, transforming what was once an exclusive culinary experience into an inclusive one that welcomes diners of all backgrounds.
The restaurant's extensive menu showcases over 200 varieties of halal-certified Japanese dishes, featuring fresh sushi and sashimi prepared daily, an exciting conveyor belt system, steaming bowls of ramen, flavorful baked rice dishes, crispy tempura selections, and creative maki rolls. Each dish maintains the authentic Japanese flavor profiles while strictly adhering to MUIS halal certification standards, proving that religious dietary requirements need not compromise culinary excellence. The fun and trendy conveyor belt concept adds an element of entertainment to the dining experience, allowing guests to select their preferred dishes as they glide past their table while ensuring all ingredients meet halal standards.
With strategic locations across Singapore including Downtown East, IMM Shopping Mall, Sembawang Shopping Centre, and Woodlands Civic Centre, Hei Sushi has established itself as an essential destination for halal Japanese cuisine. The restaurant's success has paved the way for greater diversity in Singapore's halal dining landscape, demonstrating that traditional Japanese culinary techniques can be successfully adapted to meet religious dietary requirements. Despite the premium pricing that comes with specialized halal preparation and quality ingredients, Hei Sushi continues to serve as a beacon of culinary innovation, proving that inclusivity and authenticity can coexist in Singapore's dynamic food scene.
Great food but worst service ever! I came here at 18 may 1.30 pm and now it's 1.52 and I'm still out
Great food but the worst service ever! I arrived on May 18th at 1:30 PM, and it's now 1:52 PM, and I'm still waiting outside for a table, even though there are two open tables! The staff looked at me three times and just ignored me. I am so disappointed. This is not how your customers should be treated. And I don't even blame him; he is the only one working, no one else was there. He brought out the drinks and food and was on his feet all the time. Where are the other workers? Unacceptable.

The Sembawang outlet was so bad. The ramen soup was so diluted, it was way off. The rest of the food was also not good. The downtown tobamayo went from bad to worst. Yesterday's was too dry, same as the idako. The sashimi had back to anaroxic thin cuts for such an expensive price. Hope you really upgrade.

We ordered at 19:55, and the expected delivery was 20:35. When we called to check on the delivery, their phone went unanswered. It's now 21:05, and we've tried multiple times to get an update. We're not even sure if the food is coming, being prepared, or has been cancelled. Absolutely disgusting service standards.

The entire restaurant had only 3 people dining in, yet we still had to wait over 30 minutes for the food to be ready. I don't know what they were doing in the kitchen. If there were many patrons, I could totally understand the preparation time, but with only 3 people eating inside. The manager told me to wait 5-10 minutes, but after 30 minutes, the food was still not ready. If I could give 0 stars, I definitely would for this kind of lazy service.

Supposed to open at 11 am. However, at 11:40 am, it was still not open and they said another 15 minutes more. We are waiting only because our toddler really wants to eat sushi!

The food is better than average. The unagi cheese baked rice is good, however the tempura salmon isn't really that good. Sushi, in general, is fresh and good as well.
The service is really top-notch, with friendly and professional staff. The environment is also cosy and comfortable.

Been coming here for the past 10 years! My wife and I love this outlet so much! It's our comfort food all the time. Hopefully, they'll bring back the spicy clams like they used to have. They were awesome!

A fantastic place for sushi delights of all kinds, including standards rolling by on the 'train'. Prices are right for the value, and everything was quite delicious in the end. Some must-haves are the baked cheese rice and the ebi mayo, with beautiful smoky flavours. Service was excellent and incredibly fast, even using a scooting robot to bring special orders and some mains.
