Old Chang Kee has been Singapore's legendary curry puff destination since 1956, when it began as a humble stall in a coffee shop near Rex Cinema on Mackenzie Road, earning the nickname "Rex Curry Puff." Under the visionary leadership of Mr. Han Keen Juan, who acquired the business in 1986, Old Chang Kee transformed from a small corner stall into Singapore's most recognized snack chain, officially receiving halal certification from MUIS on January 7, 2005.
Every Old Chang Kee curry puff contains their signature blend of zesty curried potatoes, succulent bite-sized chicken chunks, and slices of boiled egg, mixed with a perfect combination of herbs and spices that has remained consistent for decades. Beyond their legendary curry puffs (rebranded as Curry'O in 2008), the menu includes Singapore chicken curry, nasi lemak, Singapore laksa, and various local snacks that celebrate Singapore's diverse culinary heritage.
With over 100 retail outlets worldwide including 80+ locations across Singapore and international presence in Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom, Old Chang Kee sells more than 40,000 curry puffs daily. The company has earned prestigious recognition including the SPBA Distinctive Brand Awards 2005, Singapore Brand Award Heritage Award 2005, and selection by U.S. Travel & Leisure Magazine as one of the world's 20 best fast food chains in 2012 - the only Singapore brand to receive this honor.

Old Chang Kee is a popular shop selling fast-moving local fried snacks. It is situated on level one, directly opposite the entrance of Compass One Sengkang MRT. The entrance to the train station is right across, so you'll find several customers exiting the gates and making a beeline to queue for the snacks. I'm not a fan of OCK. Unless I'm in a terrible hurry and there's nothing else to eat, I'll skip it. Social distancing rules are being followed, and the staff are not rude. The food on display finishes really fast. At any time of the day, you can see queues of people waiting patiently outside the shop to buy their favourite snack.

The food was fine. I bought a chicken wing and was given two packets of chili. When I asked for two more, the cashier gave me a stare, which made me feel uncomfortable. May I check if OCK has a policy on the number of chili packets provided? If so, it might be helpful to display this policy at the counter for clarity.

The staff were rude and impatient as we were using 13 ShopBack vouchers to purchase various snacks. When we wanted the stall to scan the shopping mall's QR code to submit our spending, the staff refused and asked us to go to the Customer Service counter! The fishballs were not fresh!

ShopBack had a promotion this weekend with a minimum spend of $2 at OCK. However, OCK claimed ShopBack was not working and covered the QR code with their OCK plastic bag. I scanned using the ShopBack app and it worked fine. When questioned, they simply said they didn't know and were instructed to say ShopBack wasn't working.

The two aunties at Compass One did not wear hand gloves, and their hands touched all the food. I was there on Wednesday, April 9th at 4:23 PM and was queuing. I saw them without hand gloves and told them their hands were touching all the food. Then she put on her hand gloves. The cashier touches all notes and coins, and then her hands touched all the food too. It's disgusting. 🤢

Bought two SAF day limited edition Cheezy Chicken Curry Camou Puffs from the Old Chang Kee outlet at Compass One tonight with my brother, paying $5.60 using the PayLah app as a SAFRA member. The puffs are brown, light green, and black in colour, resembling the Singapore Armed Forces shirt. The service from the cashier was very good, although I had waited patiently.

My favourites are the sardine puff. The chicken mushroom puff was okay. I should try the sotong head next time, the one with the tentacles.

Cheap and delicious snacks. The staff are polite and provide fast service. There are lots of tasty snacks, and one of my favorites is the chunky chicken pops ($3.8), which I would recommend if you've never tried them.
