Papa Ayam is Singapore's first Ayam Geprek brand, established in 2018, and serves as the home of the famous WTF Level 27 spice challenge. This Muslim-owned restaurant brings authentic Indonesian fried chicken culture to Singapore, with all food being halal-certified. Ayam Geprek, meaning "smashed chicken," features crispy fried chicken that is smashed on a mortar and pestle and served with original garlic sambal, using traditional Indonesian cooking methods.

The restaurant offers extensive spice customization with levels ranging from 1 to 15, allowing diners to choose their preferred heat intensity. Popular menu items include The Papa Ayam Box with chicken, sambal, rice, Indomie noodles, and crispy skin, along with Ayam Geprek Salted Egg and Satay Taichan varieties. Their sambals are made fresh to order using traditional pestle and mortar methods, including authentic Indonesian sambals like Balinese sambal matah and green chilli varieties.

Papa Ayam operates multiple outlets across Singapore, including locations at 313@Somerset, City Square Mall, Northpoint City, Our Tampines Hub, Paya Lebar Quarter Mall, and VivoCity. Their commitment to authenticity and halal standards has made them a popular destination for Muslim diners and Indonesian food enthusiasts seeking genuine geprek chicken experiences in Singapore.

Never again. The rice was soggy and cold. The chicken looked like an afterthought. The blinding yellow decor was disconcerting. But most of all, the food was so ridiculously bad. What a disappointment despite the good ratings.

Tried their Indomie with salted egg chicken. The Indomie didn't taste as I expected – it was on the softer and blander side. The salted egg chicken was alright, but it became very jelak (cloying) when eaten in large quantities, making it difficult to finish. I wish they had cut the chilli padi into smaller pieces and mixed/cooked them into their salted egg sauce, instead of just tossing some on top. Their reviews are likely inflated as they give a free drink for every 5-star review. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it.

My colleague and I had lunch here today, 26.08.25. To our disappointment, we found small hairs in our meal. We went to the counter and were told it was from the factory, with no further explanation given. There wasn't any compensation or refund provided. We ended up wasting our $10.00 on the lunch. Very disappointing. We would appreciate a follow-up on this.

Had an ayam geprek cabe ijo for dinner. It was $8.90, which is not a bad price considering it's indoors with air conditioning and the portion size is decent. The sambal was good, with a nice spice level, and they offer it on the side if you prefer, which is a nice touch. The chicken was juicy but not crispy. Service was very fast and friendly. Overall, it was completely fine for a quick dinner, but nothing particularly special.

I ordered Ayam Geprek Nasi Goreng because I felt like eating something spicy. So, I took up the WTF Challenge Level 27. After eating it, it wasn't as spicy as I thought and didn't hurt my stomach at all. However, the chicken was still tender and the nasi goreng was delicious. I hope Papa Ayam will create even spicier options. Still, I don't regret taking up the challenge.

The trio chili chicken is the better choice if you're trying three types of chili. You can specify the level of spiciness for the red chili, and it's well-made. If you order extra chicken, it's enough for two people and comes with generous amounts of chili. It's just perfect!

The food is good, highly recommend the Indomie! Level 3 spiciness is just nice, allowing you to taste the spice and enjoy the food while also having a bit of a kick. The staff was very kind to inform us that the à la carte chicken skin is a huge portion, more for sharing. They advised us to order the add-on chicken skin, which was more than enough for us! We also added their bok choy to balance out the meal.

I walk past this eatery almost every Sunday when I go to VivoCity for weekend marketing. Today, I decided to give it a try. Ayam Geprek basically means smashed fried chicken, and you can choose all sorts of sauces to go with it. The level of spiciness can be as high as “Tongue on fire” 🌶️. Nope, that’s not for me. Anyway, I decided to go extra mild, so I chose salted egg sauce. Interestingly, you can have the sauce separately, and that’s good. I also had the Indomie instead of fried or white rice. I liked my order. The chicken was crispy, the noodles were very authentically Indonesian style, and the salted egg sauce was okay. If I ever want to eat this again, I’d try spicy sauce with fried rice.
