Papa Ayam is Singapore's first Ayam Geprek brand, established in 2018, and serves as the home of the famous WTF Level 27 spice challenge. This Muslim-owned restaurant brings authentic Indonesian fried chicken culture to Singapore, with all food being halal-certified. Ayam Geprek, meaning "smashed chicken," features crispy fried chicken that is smashed on a mortar and pestle and served with original garlic sambal, using traditional Indonesian cooking methods.

The restaurant offers extensive spice customization with levels ranging from 1 to 15, allowing diners to choose their preferred heat intensity. Popular menu items include The Papa Ayam Box with chicken, sambal, rice, Indomie noodles, and crispy skin, along with Ayam Geprek Salted Egg and Satay Taichan varieties. Their sambals are made fresh to order using traditional pestle and mortar methods, including authentic Indonesian sambals like Balinese sambal matah and green chilli varieties.

Papa Ayam operates multiple outlets across Singapore, including locations at 313@Somerset, City Square Mall, Northpoint City, Our Tampines Hub, Paya Lebar Quarter Mall, and VivoCity. Their commitment to authenticity and halal standards has made them a popular destination for Muslim diners and Indonesian food enthusiasts seeking genuine geprek chicken experiences in Singapore.

Found hair in their keropok. Gross. I told them privately on Instagram, but they didn't even acknowledge or reply. So, I'm posting it here for everyone to know. Judge for yourselves.

Never again. The rice was soggy and cold. The chicken looked like an afterthought. The blinding yellow decor was disconcerting. But most of all, the food was so ridiculously bad. What a disappointment despite the good ratings.

Spice Cravings Satisfied – Up to Level 15, But I’m Taking It Step by Step I recently checked out a spot known for its spicy dishes, the kind that proudly advertise a spice level chart going up to 15. On this visit, I went for level 8 to test the waters, and honestly, it was manageable—not overwhelming, but still brought a nice kick. If you’re into spice like I am, level 10 is probably the next logical step, which I’m aiming for next time. My friend was sweating at level 7-8. I opted for the chicken with Indomie noodles, because let’s be real, noodles always win over rice in my book. The chicken was nicely done: soft and tender, not dry or overly chewy, which can sometimes be the case with spicy fried options. Was it mind-blowingly good? Not exactly. But for what it is—a spicy, satisfying plate when you’ve got that craving—it absolutely hits the spot. Definitely one of those meals that delivers comfort with a bit of a challenge, especially if you're daring enough to keep climbing the spice ladder.

Their staff are amazing and nice. However, regarding the food, I feel it's not that amazing. I ordered ayam geprek original with the expectation that their sambal would be like typical Indonesian ayam geprek sambal, but it turned out far from my expectation. The taste of the tomato was too strong, overpowering the chili, and for me, it needs improvement in terms of the sambal's ingredients. The chicken was okay, no complaints.

Edit: Changed from 1 to 4 stars as they were quick with service recovery and apologetic. Ordered via GrabFood on 3 July at 11:57 am, and the chilli was not provided, which defeats the purpose of the dish.

I ordered Ayam Geprek Nasi Goreng because I felt like eating something spicy. So, I took up the WTF Challenge Level 27. After eating it, it wasn't as spicy as I thought and didn't hurt my stomach at all. However, the chicken was still tender and the nasi goreng was delicious. I hope Papa Ayam will create even spicier options. Still, I don't regret taking up the challenge.

I've tried all kinds of levels, and levels 15, 13, and 25 were awesome, but they were all takeaway. The spice level was extreme, which I love! Believe me or not, I'm buying 4 times a week, it's that awesome! Guys should try it, it's worth it. The staff service is very good, 5/5.
