Visited on 160825 at 06:35 PM. We arrived with no queue in sight, but it was a bit busy. We didn't mind waiting as the staff informed us there would be a 5-10 minute wait. After more than 10 minutes passed, we started to get impatient and frustrated. It was then that we noticed empty high tables at the front and back. Not wanting to jump to conclusions, we decided to wait a little longer as the server kept looking in our direction. After another 5 minutes, my sister approached the staff to ask about the high tables. The server mentioned that those tables were available if we were comfortable with them, implying they had been empty for no apparent reason. While some people may not be comfortable with high tables, given the growing queue, the staff should have asked patrons if they were okay with those tables instead of making assumptions. That was the first issue. Secondly, the portion of beef my sister received for her Beef Pepper Rice was disappointing. We called the server and showed her, and all she said was that she would give feedback to the chef. My sister and I have eaten at Pepper Lunch countless times, but this was the first time we encountered such a small portion. Thankfully, the taste was still great, but it was unsatisfactory due to the portion size. I hope something can be done about the service for seating customers and the beef portion.
