I recently visited Curry Times at Westgate, owned by the well-known Old Chang Kee curry puff chain. The restaurant's retro-style ambiance, complete with waitresses dressed in Nanyang-style Chinese samfu, transports diners to a nostalgic era.
In keeping with the theme, we ordered the curry chicken, which can be accompanied by either white rice or soft bread. The curry had a well-balanced flavour, with a harmonious blend of curry spices and the creaminess of coconut milk. Personally, I would have preferred a stronger spice base to make the dish more impactful. The Assam Batang fish fillet was appetizing, featuring a nice, but not too sharp tamarind note. The fish fillet was fresh, though the portion was a bit small.
For shoppers at Westgate or JEM, this place offers a great option for an afternoon kopi or teh break with their famous curry buns. The restaurant also offers a variety of set lunch and dinner options during weekdays, making it convenient for busy professionals and shoppers. The prices are reasonable, especially considering its location in a bustling shopping mall.
Overall, while some aspects could be improved, Curry Times provides a pleasant dining experience with its nostalgic ambiance and comforting dishes. I'm looking forward to returning to try more of their menu offerings.

One star is too much for this place. I ordered Nasi Lemak with curry chicken and kopi less sweet. They chatted amongst themselves and only gave me Nasi Lemak with chicken wings. The kopi was burnt, and they charged me $12.83.

A regular curry place. It gets crowded at lunchtime. I had the beef curry, which was not bad. But skip the lime drink; it's nasty.

The rice was clumpy, and the dry chicken curry lacked sauce. The chicken itself was dry, not juicy. The egg was overcooked. There was very little sambal chilli. The saving grace were the fish cake and achar. The presentation was... (look at photo). It’s better to just eat at the restaurant and not order delivery.

The menu has 3 vegetarian dishes. The Teriyaki Mock Chicken + Mushroom Noodles was one of them, and it was good, though slightly salty for my taste.
Service could be improved. The lady staff didn't make us feel welcome and insisted we sit together very close to other diners, despite plenty of empty tables and a recent spike in COVID cases. Some social distancing would have been appreciated.
