Dough Culture Pte Ltd has established itself as Singapore's largest manufacturer of You Tiao (Chinese fried dough sticks), revolutionizing traditional Chinese breakfast culture through modern automation and stringent food safety standards while maintaining HACCP and Halal certifications. Founded by Alex Ong after witnessing elderly women working tirelessly through the night to manually knead, roll, and fry dough at traditional stalls, the company was born from a vision to honor their hard work by developing automated dough-making processes that preserve authentic flavors while ensuring consistent quality and food safety. This innovative approach has transformed a labor-intensive traditional craft into a scalable operation that serves multiple outlets across Singapore, from White Sands Shopping Centre in Pasir Ris to major shopping centers like AMK Hub, Causeway Point, and City Square Mall, making authentic You Tiao accessible to modern consumers seeking traditional breakfast experiences.
The core product offering at Dough Culture centers around their signature You Tiao, prepared using automated systems that maintain the traditional taste and texture that Singaporeans expect from this beloved Chinese breakfast staple. Their manufacturing process adheres to the most stringent food safety and hygiene standards, ensuring that each batch meets both HACCP international food safety requirements and local halal certification standards, making their products suitable for Singapore's diverse religious communities. The company's commitment to quality consistency across all retail locations means customers can expect the same authentic You Tiao experience whether they visit their Admiralty Place outlet, Changi City Point location, or any of their other strategically positioned stores throughout Singapore, maintaining the delicate balance of crispy exterior and soft, chewy interior that defines perfect You Tiao.
Dough Culture's success represents a broader trend in Singapore's food industry where traditional recipes meet modern technology to create scalable businesses that preserve cultural heritage while meeting contemporary food safety and accessibility standards. Their expansion to multiple prime retail locations, including major shopping centers and transportation hubs, demonstrates how traditional Chinese breakfast culture can be successfully integrated into Singapore's modern retail landscape. The company's story resonates with Singapore's entrepreneurial spirit, showing how observation of traditional practices can inspire innovative solutions that honor cultural heritage while creating sustainable business models, positioning Dough Culture as both a food manufacturer and a cultural bridge that connects traditional Chinese culinary traditions with modern Singaporean lifestyle demands.

We like the youtiao from this outlet compared to those from the surrounding coffee shops etc. The old auntie is really nice and patient. She always packs our purchases nicely in the plastic bag. There was only one instance where a young lady served us and tried to give us an overly deep-fried youtiao (really dark brown in color) that even all the previous customers ahead of us kept rejecting. We also had to be insistent for her to finally replace the “charred” youtiao with properly deep-fried ones. She was really trying very hard to get rid of that overly “charred” youtiao. We also compared the Curry Puff against their directly opposite Old Chang Kee Curry Puff. We still prefer the Old Chang Kee Curry Puff even though it is way more expensive because the Dough Culture Curry Puff skin is a little too “thick” and the potatoes are more like a paste, plus it has a stronger chili powder taste which is not to our preference. The usual sweet potato slice, tapioca cake, yam cake, carrot cake etc. are all not bad. Good snacks to go with your kopi.

Disappointed with:
You tiao not hot and crispy.
Soya milk is just bottled Thai Vitamilk.
Rojak is just sauce poured over you tiao.
Recommend:
Hot tau suan.
Although reasonably priced, we did not enjoy the food. Will not order again.

Always bought Dough Culture youtiao from waterway point outlet as it holds its crisp over long hours
I always bought Dough Culture's youtiao from the Waterway Point outlet as it held its crispness over long hours. However, over the past few attempts, I've noticed the youtiao isn't as crispy as before and becomes soft and tough after a while. Today's purchase was even worse – so tough and soggy to bite. There's no difference from other mainstream stalls now. It's so disappointing that they haven't sustained their standard.

I recently had the pleasure of revisiting Dough Culture at Waterway Point after its reopening from renovation. As I made my way back to the office from a meeting, I couldn't resist stopping by to indulge in some of their delectable treats. One of my all-time favorites is the Tau Suan with cut You Tiao. The combination of the warm and comforting tau suan with the crispy and freshly cut you tiao was a perfect blend of textures and flavors. It's no wonder why this dish has always been a standout for me.
In addition to my favorite tau suan with cut you tiao, I also decided to try some other items on the menu. The spring roll was crispy and packed with flavorful fillings, while the pumpkin cake and yam cake added a unique twist to my snack selection. Each item was freshly prepared and served with care, showcasing Dough Culture's commitment to quality and taste.
The reopening of Dough Culture brought with it a renewed sense of excitement and freshness to the stall. The ambiance was inviting, and the staff were welcoming and attentive. Despite the hustle and bustle of the reopening, the service was efficient, and I was able to enjoy my snacks without any delay.
Overall, my experience at Dough Culture post-renovation was nothing short of delightful. The familiar flavors of my favorite tau suan with cut you tiao, coupled with the new additions to my snack lineup, made it a memorable visit. If you're looking for a place to satisfy your cravings for traditional dough snacks in a welcoming environment, Dough Culture at Waterway Point is the place to be. I highly recommend trying out their offerings for a tasty and satisfying treat that will leave you craving for more.
This combined review encapsulates both my previous experience at Dough Culture @ Waterway Point and my recent visit after the reopening, highlighting the consistency in quality and the joy of indulging in their delicious treats.

A store selling local fried snacks. Its youtiao (油条), butterfly bun (马脚), and salted bun (咸煎饼) were quite delicious. Most items are priced around S$1.10 each, with discounts for bulk purchases. Overall, it tasted better than some of its competitors.
