Encik Tan was established in 2014 to serve the growing demand for authentic Chinese hawker fare among Muslim customers, introducing a halal-certified mini food atrium concept that delivers popular local Chinese dishes. All recipes are meticulously adapted using halal ingredients and fine-tuned to deliver the same nostalgic flavour and taste of the original dishes while maintaining full halal compliance.
The menu features beloved local favorites including Hainanese Curry Rice with options like Chicken, Chicken Drumstick, Fried Fish, Fried Prawn, and Sambal Sotong served with fragrant rice and rich curry. Additional offerings include Wanton Noodles, Fishball Noodles, Ban Mian, Laksa, and Claypot Rice, ensuring a comprehensive selection of Chinese hawker classics.
With more than 18 halal-certified outlets across Singapore, including locations at Alexandra Retail Centre, Bedok Mall, Changi Airport Terminal 3, 313@Somerset, and Compass One, Encik Tan has made authentic Chinese cuisine accessible to Muslim diners throughout the island. The restaurant's commitment to preserving traditional flavors while adapting to halal requirements has earned positive reviews for dishes like their crispy chicken cutlet with moist meat and well-seasoned curry sauce that balances spice with subtle sweetness.

If I could, I'd give zero stars. This was the most bland-tasting soup I've ever had. I intentionally ordered bland noodles, but I didn't expect the soup to be equally bland. The amount of minced meat was barely a tablespoon's worth. The egg was unexpectedly the cooked type. The scallop, a premium ingredient in the dish, didn't look too fresh. And all of this for $8.50. Never again.

Came at 6pm. Only noodle number 5 was left. Curry only had number 1. For drinks, only coffee was available, no tea.
It would be helpful to have a visual display of what has sold out. Customers look at all the menus to plan what to eat, but then get disappointed at the counter when the workers only say these two items are left.

Encik Tan's has always been a comfort food. But after visiting this stall, we were really disappointed.
There are only 3 stalls here:
1. Noodle
2. Curry rice
3. Fish soup
On our first visit, we ordered their curry cutlet rice. The cutlet portion was surprisingly overcooked, and only half of the cutlet was served. The egg was really small, and the rice portion was very little as well.
On our second visit, we ordered the fried drumsticks. Apparently, we were served one that was burnt on one side. The egg was also really small.
We really hope the standard can be maintained.

WORST OUTLET IN SINGAPORE. The chicken cutlet set, served in the smallest pieces, had cold and dry meat. Please refund my money! No wonder the rating is terribly low! No standard at all! REFUND ME MY MONEY! The outlet had dirty tables and floor. Where is the cleaner? DO NOT VISIT this outlet!!! Refund me five dollars!

I wonder if the management sees this rating and feedback. Though I love their curry rice and am a frequent customer, I was shocked when I ordered the iced grass jelly. They gave me a cup that was too sweet to shake, and worst of all, they didn't provide straws.
So please, tell me how to drink grass jelly in an iced cup? I turned back to question the waitstaff, and she smiled back and said the boss didn't provide straws.
If they intend to go green and save on straws, that's fine. But then, they shouldn't offer drinks on their menu that put customers in such a predicament.
I really felt my money was wasted on this drink.

A no-frills, air-conditioned, and clean eatery with local favourites, especially their chicken cutlet curry rice! It's one of the best, if not the best, affordable meals you can get at shopping malls!

One of the biggest, if not the biggest Encik Tan, with the widest variety. The laksa could be spicier, but that's a matter of personal preference! It is rather fragrant, though. The Lor Mee is okay, a little too rich after finishing the whole bowl. The signature noodles and curry rice are two dishes from Encik Tan that can't really go wrong. The carrot cake is surprisingly good! Slightly on the wet side, but the taste is excellent.
Update — The Char Kway Teow has a nice char and wok hei to it, worth the price point.
Update!! My favourites have to be the carrot cake, Char Kway Teow, and the claypot stall. Nice wok hei, charring, and flavours for a decent price point.

1. The place was clean, likely because it was early in the morning.
2. You can get very decent local breakfast and local delights here and feel satisfied.
3. I had a red bean paste bun and a cup of tea. The total cost was $2.10.
4. This is a halal food and drink outlet.
Hopefully, things stay this way.
