Smile Martabak has established itself as Singapore's premier destination for authentic Indonesian street food, bringing the beloved tradition of martabak to local shores with MUIS halal certification and ingredients sourced directly from Indonesia. Founded by a husband-and-wife team who initially ran the business online before expanding to premium locations including ION Orchard, Funan Mall, and Bedok Mall, this innovative concept has earned recognition as the #1 Indonesian street food vendor in Singapore.

The restaurant specializes in both sweet and savory martabak varieties, with their Martabak Manis (sweet pancakes) featuring premium halal fillings like cheese, chocolate, and crushed peanuts, alongside unique Singaporean-inspired flavors such as Ondeh Ondeh and Red Velvet Oreo that blend Indonesian traditions with local tastes. Their savory Martabak Telur showcases beef or chicken fried with eggs, green onions, shallots, and garlic until golden brown, served with authentic accompaniments including telur sauce, Indonesian sambal chili, and homemade fresh acar.

Beyond martabak, the menu extends to other authentic Indonesian dishes including bakso soup and fried rice boxes, all carefully prepared by Muslim chefs in their private kitchen with meticulous attention to quality and authenticity. With free delivery for orders over 0 and strategic locations in major shopping centers, Smile Martabak has successfully brought Indonesian street food culture to Singapore's mainstream dining scene while maintaining the traditional flavors and preparation methods that make martabak a cherished comfort food.

Craved Indonesian food, so we ended up here. We had the noodles with chicken, gado-gado, Milo martabak, and choc cheese martabak. Everything was average at best. I want to go back to Jakarta for the real deal!

There was a long waiting time for our food to be served. I ordered Bakso beef for dine-in, but it was served in a takeaway container. I had to pour the vermicelli into the soup myself, and it was oily. The soup tasted like water; I'm not sure if this was intended. My drink was not served until I asked for it, and then I was given iced lemon tea with sugar, even though I had requested no sugar. The table was imbalanced, and the space was small. It's not worth the money for such plain food.

The place is quite small, so even a group of 4 will find it difficult to sit at the same table. The food is so-so. The geprek coating is like KFC type, not Indonesian style. The nasi lemak is soft and sticky. The baso beehoon is okay. The chocolate martabak's filling is very thin (not sure about the taste, I didn't try it) and doesn't look buttery. The beef martabak is so-so, with very little sauce. It's overpriced for me.

I can't trust reviews as 5-star reviewers are mostly incentivised with free drinks. I waited 15 minutes with only one order ahead of me. 15 minutes for instant noodles and fried chicken is insane. They also got my order wrong after all that waiting; I ordered green chili (level 3) but received red chili (level 6), resulting in a meal I couldn't finish because it was way too spicy. Don't come at me for not changing my meal immediately; would you wait another 15-20 minutes for a subpar meal? The soup was extremely salty, the chicken extremely salty, and the Indo mee extremely salty. I don't know what this place is on. The staff was also unprofessional, dismissive, and rude.

The food is delicious and also high in calories. I ordered takeaway of gado gado and ayam geprek (level 2 spiciness - suitable for people who can handle spicy but don’t want it to be too intense). The gado gado consisted of many fried items like tempeh and taukwa, with vegetables such as lettuce and cabbage. The sauce was slightly tangy and sweet. I also ordered their ayam geprek with nasi lemak, and it was delicious. The rice was flavorful. The chili was a delight to dip the fried chicken pieces in. I also got their avocado drink, though it wasn't my favourite rendition of an avocado drink as the chocolate didn't complement the avocado very well.

The Martabak manis ondeh ondeh and choco banana were not too sweet. For the meal, the Ayam geprek and level 2 sambal were on the salty side. The Nasi lemak rice tasted like plain rice. The Bakso meatball soup's meatball was actually not bad; it was soft and chewy, but the soup tasted funny and didn't really go well with the meatballs. The Mee Ayam Soto tasted normal. Overall, we spent $40.10 for takeaway for 3 people.

Smile Martabak truly lives up to its name! The martabak is fluffy, rich, and packed with filling that makes every bite satisfying. The flavors are well-balanced — not overly sweet, just right. Service is friendly and welcoming, and the portions are generous for the price. It's definitely one of my go-to spots whenever I'm craving a comfort snack. Highly recommended!

The food looks and tastes good, but the seating space is really tight. It's on the pricey side, but that's normal for a mall. Disclaimer: they offer a free drink for a Google review.
