Kitty and I were looking for a quick and affordable dinner option in Punggol, and Sukiya Gyudon • Curry at Waterway Point fit the bill perfectly. This Japanese restaurant specializes in gyudon (beef bowls) and Japanese curry rice, offering a wide variety of options to suit different tastes and appetites. We decided to try the Spring Onion Beef Yakiniku Bowl and the Teriyaki Salmon Bowl, both of which were quite delicious. I particularly loved the Spring Onion Beef Yakiniku Bowl. The tender yakiniku beef combined with the refreshing spring onions and fluffy rice was a perfect combination for me. The spring onions, the yakiniku, and the sauce created a harmonious blend of flavors that was truly delicious, and the addition of a half-boiled egg added richness and creaminess to the dish. It's worth noting that the spring onion beef yakiniku bowl is definitely a dish for true spring onion lovers. If you're not a big fan, there are plenty of other delicious options on the menu without spring onions. Kitty really enjoyed the Teriyaki Salmon Bowl, and the sweetness of the teriyaki sauce complemented the salmon beautifully. We both agreed that the Chicken Karaage Set, which we ordered as a side, was a great addition to our meal. The chicken was crispy, flavorful, and went well with both the gyudon and the curry sauce. We also ordered the Tofu Set, which was a bit bland on its own. It was cold tofu, and we ended up adding soy sauce to bring out the flavor, making it more like a flavorful "Akatashi Tofu". To quench our thirst, we shared an iced lemon tea, a refreshing and classic pairing for Japanese cuisine. Sukiya offers customizable portion sizes, which is a great feature. I opted for the "M" size, which was just right for me and provided a satisfying meal. For those with a larger appetite, they have an extra-large bowl option available. The ordering process is straightforward and convenient. You can choose to scan a QR code for a digital menu or browse a physical menu for a more detailed look, which is nice for those who prefer to see a visual representation of the dishes before ordering. However, the customer service experience significantly impacted our enjoyment. While the staff were generally helpful and friendly, we had an unusual experience when we asked for additional spring onions for my Yakiniku Bowl. The staff member, after hearing our request, walked over to our table, visually checked our bowls, and then went to the kitchen. They then returned and asked for our receipt to confirm that we had indeed ordered the spring onion beef yakiniku bowl. This felt unnecessary, as we were clearly eating the dish, and it made us feel as if we were being accused of trying to get something for free. The staff member then informed us that the manager had said that they don’t provide additional spring onions and that we would have to pay for them if we wanted more. While we understand that there are policies in place, this interaction felt a little insensitive and unnecessary, especially given that our request was made after we had already ordered the spring onion beef yakiniku bowl. The interaction left us feeling uncomfortable, questioned, and ultimately, a little offended. Overall, Sukiya Gyudon • Curry at Waterway Point is a good option for a casual, budget-friendly Japanese meal. However, the customer service experience, particularly the handling of our request for additional spring onions, significantly detracted from our overall enjoyment. Sukiya is worth considering for a quick and satisfying meal in Punggol, but be aware that you may encounter unexpected responses from staff.

Ordered 2 meals with sides. They were served 12 minutes later, but the side and drinks were missing. When they finally served the vegetable side dish, it was raw. I rang the bell 4 times, but service was non-existent. After I gave feedback to one of the staff, she took the vegetable back. By this point, we had already finished our meals and I seriously wasn't in the mood to eat at this outlet anymore. Unbelievable.

Been there numerous times. Food is okay, and the price is fine. Service... Whenever this lanky guy with a squeaky voice is on duty, he will definitely place my order at a table one spot away from me. I've seen him do that to a couple of other customers as well. It's rude and very annoying. The shop barely has customers, and the service is that poor. He seems more concerned with chatting with his co-workers about his holidays than working decently. Water for customers is pre-prepared and stacked up in trays. Look up at the ceiling, people. Any pests or birds up there might just drop something inside the cup. Thanks, but I will pass on drinking the water.

On Sunday at 3pm, the website showed it was less busy. Only one service crew member was working. We ordered food that came really slow and cold because only one person was working. Look at the queue and the amount of customers inside. Sukiya, do you need to be cost-conscious about staff, especially on a Sunday?

Dear Sukiya Water Point, we love your food and come here quite regularly. However, we've noticed a smell of mould and decay on the tables. I believe it's from the cloths used for wiping; they don't seem to be cleaned properly, and the smell from the table wipes hasn't been sanitized. The odour is now present on all tables. Could you please take note of this so we can have a more pleasant dining experience? Thank you.

Affordable and delicious gyudons that come in an assortment of sizes, catering to individual preference for the meat-to-rice ratio. Definitely a go-to place if I want to get my gyudon fix without spending too much money. The waiting time for food can be sporadic; one of our bowls took close to 40 minutes, while the rest were served within 10 minutes. In hindsight, it was a Friday evening, and the restaurant was pretty packed with a consistent flow of delivery orders.

Sukiya Gyudon • Curry (Waterway Point): A Delicious But Questionable Experience (3.5/5 Stars) Rating: • Food: 4/5 (Delicious gyudon and curry, great value for money) • Service: 3/5 (Friendly staff, but one odd and uncomfortable interaction) • Atmosphere: 4/5 (Clean and modern, but can get crowded) • Value: 4/5 (Affordable prices, large portions) Overall: 3.5/5 Donkey and I were looking for a fast, affordable dinner in Punggol, and Sukiya Gyudon • Curry at Waterway Point seemed like the perfect fit. This Japanese restaurant specializes in gyudon (beef bowls) and Japanese curry rice, with a wide variety of options to please everyone. We both really enjoyed our meals. Donkey went for the Spring Onion Beef Yakiniku Bowl, which he absolutely loved. The tender beef, fresh spring onions, and perfectly cooked rice created a delightful flavor combination, and the half-boiled egg added a nice richness. The spring onions were definitely the star of the show, so if you're not a big fan, there are plenty of other delicious options on the menu. I opted for the Teriyaki Salmon Bowl, and the sweet teriyaki sauce complemented the salmon beautifully. And let's not forget the Chicken Karaage Set, which we both agreed was a fantastic addition to our meal - crispy, flavorful, and a perfect match for both the gyudon and the curry sauce. The Tofu Set, however, was a bit of a letdown. It was cold tofu, and we found ourselves adding soy sauce to bring out the flavor, making it more like a "Akatashi Tofu". We also appreciated the customizable portion sizes, which is a great feature. Donkey ordered the "M" size, which was just right for him, while there's also an extra large option for those with a larger appetite. Sukiya's ordering process is simple and easy - scan a QR code for a digital menu or browse a physical menu for a more detailed look. But the customer service experience left us feeling a bit baffled. While the staff was generally friendly, one interaction felt strange and unnecessary. We asked for additional spring onions for Donkey's Yakiniku Bowl. The staff member walked over to our table, looked at our bowls, went to the kitchen, and then returned asking for our receipt to confirm we had ordered the spring onion beef yakiniku bowl. It felt like they were questioning us, which made us uncomfortable. They then informed us that the manager had said they don't provide extra spring onions, and we'd have to pay for them if we wanted more. While we understand there are policies, the whole interaction felt insensitive and unnecessary, especially as we had already ordered the spring onion beef yakiniku bowl. It left a slightly sour taste in our mouths. Overall, Sukiya offers delicious gyudon and curry, but the customer service experience was a bit of a letdown. It's a great option for a quick and affordable meal, but be aware that you might encounter some unexpected responses from staff.

It’s my first time at this Sukiya Gyudon outlet, but I find the food standard relatively consistent across different branches. I ordered the medium-sized Double Egg Gyudon and the medium-sized Yakiniku Bowl. Both bowls cost less than $7, which is a reasonable price for a casual dining setting. There was a decent amount of beef slices in the bowls and a generous portion of rice. A complimentary roasted barley/rice drink was also provided. In terms of service, the staff were efficient in assigning us seats and clearing tables when others had finished.

A good place to head over if you need a quick fix for reasonably priced Gyudon dishes. However, I wouldn't recommend it for gatherings as it's more of a fast-food establishment. The vegetables & drink combo is a great value add-on.
