Unsatisfactory Dining Experience on 28 May 2025
I am disappointed with the dining experience I just had at your restaurant at approximately 8:00 PM.
I ordered the Chic&SF Chanko and was served a prawn that was clearly not fresh. When I raised my concern to the staff and requested a replacement, I was told it was a tiger prawn and that its appearance was normal. I have eaten tiger prawns on many occasions and am well aware of how they should look and smell when fresh. Despite my insistence, the response I received was dismissive and unhelpful.
Due to hygiene concerns, I requested the entire pot to be changed as I was unsure of the potential health risks from the spoiled prawn. Although the soup was eventually prepared again, the waiting time was long and the service throughout was subpar.
To make matters worse, when I left the restaurant after making payment, the staff did not even acknowledge me with a simple thank you, which added to the overall unpleasant experience.
I believe in giving fair feedback and hope that you will look into this matter seriously to improve both the food quality and service standards for future patrons. Regrettably, based on this experience, I do not see myself returning or recommending your establishment.

I visited twice with my helper. We ordered their signature tendon, beef sukiyaki, and chicken toji set. The tendon was served within 10 minutes and is their most popular item. Other dishes took around 20 minutes.
Their tempuras were hot, soft, crispy, juicy, and flavourful. They were generous with the variety and servings of tempura, including mushrooms, carrots, seaweed, and meats fried and seasoned to perfection. However, they were stingy with the rice. I found their rice a tad dry, and more signature sauce could have been added for better flavour. Do note that their spicy sauce is just Japanese chili powder added to the signature sauce.
Their beef sukiyaki was average at best. The portions of beef and vegetables were too small, and the sukiyaki base was really salty. You can reduce the saltiness by removing vegetables after they're boiled and not drinking the base.
Their chicken toji was also average at best. The portions of chicken were too small. The fried chicken was tough and felt premade. The cheesy flavour is an acquired taste. The egg and sauce on the hotplate were okay, but had a light taste. Nonetheless, they complemented the rice well.
Their salad side was fine, and the vegetables (lettuce, tomato, corn) were fresh. Their Kewpie roasted sesame sauce tasted fine.
Their miso soup was inconsistent. It was really flavourful and rich the first time I went, but was really light and lacking the second time.
Service was decent, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
In short, I would never consider eating here unless I had friends and colleagues who could only eat halal food. Even so, I reckon there are better Japanese restaurants serving halal food.
If you absolutely have to eat here, you won't go wrong with their signature tendon.

We only chose to walk in here and try because the mall was full of people. Ordered their spicy beef suki ramen. Terrible. The noodles were hard, and the soup was bland, just spicy. The beef was still okay. Had baby octopus as a side dish. Was impressed at first as it was quite a big portion for a side dish. I don't know what went wrong, it just tasted weird as you ate it. My worst ramen experience. Wasting my money and spoiling my mood.

Had the ebi chicken tendon, which came with a bowl of miso soup (total $17+). The taste was okay, decent but unimpressive. The ebi was crispy and fresh. The fried chicken was a karaage type, and they heaped on mayo egg salad. Definitely not Makino-level (but few are). Service was cheerful, but the restaurant was a bit warm.

Every tempura is freshly made. I don't understand why the seaweed tempura cannot be freshly made. It was cold and not nice to eat.
