Encik Tan was established in 2014 to serve the growing demand for authentic Chinese hawker fare among Muslim customers, introducing a halal-certified mini food atrium concept that delivers popular local Chinese dishes. All recipes are meticulously adapted using halal ingredients and fine-tuned to deliver the same nostalgic flavour and taste of the original dishes while maintaining full halal compliance.
The menu features beloved local favorites including Hainanese Curry Rice with options like Chicken, Chicken Drumstick, Fried Fish, Fried Prawn, and Sambal Sotong served with fragrant rice and rich curry. Additional offerings include Wanton Noodles, Fishball Noodles, Ban Mian, Laksa, and Claypot Rice, ensuring a comprehensive selection of Chinese hawker classics.
With more than 18 halal-certified outlets across Singapore, including locations at Alexandra Retail Centre, Bedok Mall, Changi Airport Terminal 3, 313@Somerset, and Compass One, Encik Tan has made authentic Chinese cuisine accessible to Muslim diners throughout the island. The restaurant's commitment to preserving traditional flavors while adapting to halal requirements has earned positive reviews for dishes like their crispy chicken cutlet with moist meat and well-seasoned curry sauce that balances spice with subtle sweetness.

I thought I was going to get a smaller chicken chop portion during dinner time... Thank goodness the auntie was nice to me! But yes, the meat portion you get really depends on the mood of the person serving you. $5.30 for take-out chicken cutlet curry rice. I don't order anything else from here... Tea and coffee here, hmm, save your calories...

If you're going to be open 24 hours, you ought to have more food and drinks available. I went over at 9pm on a Saturday night, and only 1.5 out of 3 stalls had anything at all.
The curry rice stall employee also had a face blacker than a blackboard, especially when telling people that whatever they wanted was sold out. Even if I'd been starving for 10 days, seeing her face and attitude would put me off from eating here at all.
Relook your operations and your staff, this isn't cool.

I've been a loyal supporter of this outlet since it opened almost five years ago and have always been satisfied by the generous portions of meat. However, I fear that shrinkflation has officially caught up with Encik Tan. I just received the saddest and smallest portion of chicken cutlet – simply disappointing. It still tastes great though.
Side note: The outlet does not serve homemade drinks (e.g., Milo) past midnight.

Encik Tan used to serve decent chicken chop curry rice, not sure why it's so lousy now. The curry is watery and tasteless, the vegetables are super bland and not fresh, and the fried egg is also very carelessly done. The braised sauce is missing. The mee pok is still edible, otherwise I would have rated it 1 star like most of the reviewers. I wonder if it's just this branch, or if all other Encik Tan outlets have also dropped their standards.

The food is average, but what was most atrocious was the service from the staff at the curry rice station.
Her tone of voice was rude from the start, even before I ordered. If that was the service before I even placed my order, imagine what happened when I did. I simply asked if the promotion of buying one dish with a $1 calamansi juice was still available. She rolled her eyes and replied in a very uncivilised tone, "YOU ORDER OVER THERE AH," waving her arm towards the drinks stall. I was taken aback by this disgusting attitude.
OTH's Encik Tan needs to up their game and hire better, friendlier, and more competent staff.

Visited this place at 3:10 am. There was only one employee working, a Chinese man. He was multitasking, managing orders, cutting vegetables, etc. When I was recording my food, he asked me, "Is everything okay? You can change it if there's anything wrong." He thought I was recording because of something negative, which I had to explain to him: "vlogging" lol.

I had dry fishball noodles. The soup was tasty, though I'm unsure if it was due to added MSG. The fishballs were quite big, springy, and didn't have any fishy smell. The noodles were a little too sweet for my liking and I felt the tomato sauce shouldn't have been added. Overall, I'd give this dish a rating of 4/5.

Encik Tan's curry rice set is a delightful culinary experience that perfectly blends comfort and flavor. This halal eatery, known for its Chinese-style curry rice, offers a satisfying meal featuring a crispy chicken cutlet, a fried egg with a soft yolk, and crunchy vegetables, all generously drizzled with a slightly spicy and sweet curry sauce.
While I don't normally enjoy fried battered food, this chicken cutlet stands out with its flavourful seasoning and moist interior, making it a favorite among patrons. The curry itself is thick and creamy, reminiscent of Japanese curry, which adds a unique twist to the traditional Hainanese style.
The outlet at Tampines Hub is clean, bright, and air-conditioned, making it a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for diners.
