The restaurant's commitment to preserving traditional flavors while adapting to halal requirements has earned positive reviews for dishes like their crispy chicken cutlet with moist meat and well-seasoned curry sauce that balances spice with subtle sweetness.

The food was subpar, along with terribly rude staff (featured in the picture) who threw my packet of claypot rice when I was collecting it. Not only that, when I asked for chilli, her response was short and offhand. This was my first time experiencing such atrocious service, and I do believe that the other staff from the other stalls are actually courteous. I hope the management can look into improving the quality of customer service.

Encik Tan at Compass One has been around ever since the mall underwent a major revamp. I would say this outlet is of average size compared to other Encik Tan outlets in other locations. Seats are very limited and hard to come by if you happen to pass by during peak hours in the evening. Food choices are good, with a wide variety of stalls such as their signature curry rice, fish soup, char kway teo, carrot cake, western food, and claypot dishes. Sadly, they do not have my favourite sesame chicken claypot here at this outlet. I would love for them to bring it in, though, since they already have claypot dishes here. Taste-wise, I would say it's on par with the rest of their Encik Tan outlets island-wide. So do drop by if you're in the vicinity and craving for a plate of curry rice.

Absolutely terrible service. I waited at the claypot rice section for 5 minutes and was ignored by the staff standing there. The staff consistently showed a lack of care in everything they did and had irritable faces when serving customers. While I was waiting, various customers in line also expressed their dissatisfaction with different services (e.g., asking for spring onions and staff saying they didn't have any despite a bowl full of spring onions directly in front of them). I will not come back to this place. Disappointing.

I've tasted the food at this outlet a few times, and the general impression is quite good. For this visit, the curry rice with curry chicken was not bad, or in fact, quite good. The fried chicken also seemed quite good, especially with the curry sauce. The claypot rice was quite tasty previously, but now the cooked rice tastes completely flat with no fragrance. I'm not sure if the rice has been changed. The chicken cooked with the claypot rice consists of only 2 or 3 small, miserable pieces of chicken meat, and it is unseasoned and tastes plain. Overall, this claypot rice is nothing to enjoy, unless one can't find any decent food elsewhere. Not recommended.

The claypot chicken rice was terrible. It was soggy and tasteless. Additionally, they don't serve drinks with straws for grass jelly. When I politely asked for a straw, the lady mentioned I was the first customer to request one with that drink. I then asked to change to another drink, but she said it wasn't possible as it had already been paid for. Terrible customer service.

Kitty and I were looking for a good meal and decided to check out Encik Tan at Compass 1. We were intrigued by their claypot dishes, which are not commonly found at every restaurant. Encik Tan offers a variety of stalls under one roof, including a claypot stall, a fishball noodle stall, a curry rice stall, and a drinks stall. We decided to try the claypot rice and the yi mian claypot. Even though Encik Tan is a halal establishment, their claypots looked exactly like the traditional Chinese claypots we're familiar with. We were impressed that they managed to recreate the classic claypot flavor without using pork lard or any ingredients not permitted in halal cuisine. The claypot rice, with its fragrant soy sauce, was particularly delicious. Even Kitty commented, "Wow, the claypot tastes alright, even though it's halal." My yi mian was also enjoyable. While both the claypot rice and yi mian were flavorful, we felt there was a subtle something missing, a taste that we couldn't quite pinpoint. The service was friendly and efficient. After we finished our meal, a friendly uncle went around to help clear our dishes. There was also a designated tray return station for convenience. The ambiance was bright and spacious, which we appreciated.

Tried their curry chicken cutlet rice twice, which is really satisfying for the price of $4.30. It always (so far) came hot and crispy, and was very tasty! I would hope they could give more vegetables, as the portion seems lesser compared to other outlets.

First time trying En Tan. The photo was taken after eating, I was really hungry. Anyway, the service is good, very fast, there's a variety of food choices, and it's spacious. Ordered the Fried Chicken Cutlet Rice at $5 for dine-in. It's affordable and HALAL. To be honest, you can't really find any HALAL stalls at this price.

Encik Tan is a hybrid food court and fast food restaurant. It's like a miniaturized food court placed right next to an actual food court. I've noticed these outlets often seem to be situated near larger food courts, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation. The food here was quite tasty, actually. The claypot chicken rice was fantastic, and that was just from one stall – imagine the others! And I only paid $5.50 for it. I didn't particularly like how some rice got stuck to the claypot, but that might just be me. The ONE thing I really dislike, though, is that the tables are ALWAYS dirty. They either have a puddle of water or some unknown substance on them, or they look like they have a new tattoo. Aside from that, the workers are alright. If they were replaced with mindless robots, I wouldn't have noticed, but that's not really a problem. Overall, good food, but the tables are unappealing.
