I was really disappointed with the service I experienced. It's truly sad...
I went to their shop because I needed to get a birthday cake for my younger godbrother. I had read recent reviews before visiting. I love Polar Puffs & Cakes; they are awesome! I'm a regular customer at the Tiong Bahru Plaza branch, and their service is great, especially Kary. Look for Kary if you ever visit the Tiong Bahru Plaza Polar Puffs & Cakes.
The first thing I noticed when I stepped into the Jurong Gateway branch was that when I asked for the supervisor, the staff looked kind of lost. I forgot her name, but she was a young, thin Chinese lady wearing spectacles. Her duty was yesterday, October 13th. I walked into the shop around 3:05 PM, and later, an older lady staff member came in.
I was greeted by this young Chinese girl who had both her hands on her head while talking to me. Imagine that – what a service posture! I spoke English to her, and she just replied, "Huh?" as if she didn't understand English or was pretending not to. I'm not Chinese, so I only know basic Mandarin. I decided to speak to her in my basic Mandarin mixed with English.
I shared with them how bad their service was after finding out she told me she was the only one serving for the last six days. When I showed her the Google reviews from the last six days, I wanted to let them know what customers were seeing in their service attitude, as it will cost the company its reputation. Instead of embracing the feedback, this thin young Chinese lady replied, "Up to you" in Mandarin, but the older lady staff did not.
The young staff replied back by saying, "What happened? Customers themselves pull a long face." I told her it doesn't matter whether the customer came in with a long face or not; you still have to serve with a smile and at least say thank you after we have paid.
Even from my own experience, the moment I walked into the shop, this young staff already served me with both her hands on her head. I have never seen a staff in F&B do that. Isn't it unhygienic to put your hands on your head, even if you are wearing a cap? And is that the way to serve customers?
I hope Polar Puffs & Cakes management is reading this review.
To all customers and my personal friends, if you go for their cakes and puffs, they are indeed awesome and worth trying. But if you go for their service, then I don't suggest you go to this Jurong Gateway branch unless you don't mind facing these service standards, and I hope it will not spoil your day.
Polar Puffs & Cakes management or owners, please take this feedback very, very seriously. It will definitely cost your sales to drop in this branch unless you do something about your staff.

The staff was so unfriendly, not even a smile. I bought 4 sugar rolls and 1 eclair and was charged $6.80. When I reached home, they had only given me 3 sugar rolls. They charged me for an extra piece. I guess I'm not going there again. Disappointed with the service!

I've always wanted to try Polar's products whenever passing by their stall or shop. I ordered the Ondeh-Ondeh roll cake. The green part of the cake is quite fragrant, full of pandan smell. However, the cake is overly moist, which has made it not soft enough. Thus, I might hesitate in trying their other products.
