I'm not kidding when I say this: I need a refund on the rice. It was soggy and soft, almost like thick porridge. I didn't expect this kind of standard from a franchise. The karaage, though a little crispy, was definitely cooked an hour ago.

I have been a Yoshinoya patron for over 30 years, ever since I was a student in Japan. I usually never bother to leave reviews for food. However, today's experience was truly bad. The amount of meat topping on the gyudon was so miserably little, it couldn't even cover the rice.

TL;DR: Ordered the promotional item, double beef with cheese, but didn't really like it. I refused to use the wooden chopsticks and had a conversation about it, but was ignored. Food: Beef with cheese: Cheese was abundant, but the beef seemed quite raw. It needed to be mixed with rice to make it more "cooked". There's a 16-grain rice option, but it costs an extra $2. You might as well go to Don Don Donki on the same level and buy a pack of 10 for about $6. Karage: Well-fried, even the standard package was well-fried. The choice had a good proportion of fats and meat. Service: I asked if there were chopsticks, and the staff pointed me to a location. I then asked if there were non-disposable ones, but was ignored, and they focused on their own tasks. It was hard to eat and mix without chopsticks. If you're going to wash spoons anyway, please get non-disposable ones and save the environment. The machine couldn't accept Amex. Atmosphere: The music is nice – old Japanese rock. Air conditioning is present.

We hadn't been to Yoshinoya for over a year and were surprised to find that the entire menu had changed, including the removal of the soda fountain. You now have to order your food via kiosks, and bottled drinks are sold instead. Food-wise, I still prefer the previous offerings as the new ones don't taste the same anymore. The meat was rather dry, and I disliked that the rice was too plain for me. There was hardly any sauce with the beef. Additionally, I was appalled by the way the chicken was cooked—with batter? That's not how the Japanese cook karaage, right? Rectangular blocks of chicken? I'm sorry. I'm not sure I will visit again unless they refresh the menu/dishes once more. It's telling when you notice that Song Fa BKT next door is packed with a queue forming outside, while Yoshinoya has very few diners. I just wish Yoshinoya Singapore could be as good as Yoshinoya Japan.

Yoshinoya at HarbourFront is a reliable go-to for a quick, delicious Japanese meal. Known for its signature beef bowls and other comfort food options, this location serves up fresh and flavorful dishes that are perfect for a satisfying lunch or dinner while you’re out shopping or on your way to Sentosa. Their classic beef bowl is a must-try—thinly sliced, tender beef with onions simmered in a savory sauce over warm rice. It’s simple yet comforting and consistently good. The menu also includes options like teriyaki chicken, tempura, and even some healthy salads, offering something for everyone. Portions are generous and the prices are reasonable, making it great value for the quality. The staff are friendly and efficient, ensuring quick service even during peak hours. It's one of the famous gyudon restaurants in Singapore. I tried the gyudon curry & fried prawn rice. The juicy beef slices with curry were a very nice combo. It's a cozy restaurant with a relaxing ambience. It came with automated self-ordering.

The food is nice, but the service was a bit disappointing. The entire dining room was served by only one person. Many customers were turned away for waiting too long at the door. When in need, there was no one around to serve; the waiter was always busy. He was the only one handling the cashier, taking orders, cleaning tables, and escorting new customers to their tables. As for the kitchen staff, if I'm not mistaken, there was only one person working there as well...

Clean and comfortable seating. Good taste. I got the large size beef bowl for $8, and it was pretty satisfying. Friendly customer service. This is a self-service restaurant; collect your own food at the counter and return the trays/bowls at the "tray return area." A staff member here went above and beyond to serve an elderly customer, even though this is a self-service setting. Kudos to her!
