Missing/incomplete takeaway order. Calls to the outlet number go unanswered. If staff performed to basic expectations, there would be no need for a customer to make another trip to the outlet to request the missing/incomplete order. Inconvenience, time, and money wasted.

Can't make it anymore. It used to be my favourite, but its quality has deteriorated a lot. Not only is the quantity poor, but the quality is also poor. The onsen egg is bad. The salad is worse, with ranch dressing instead of Japanese dressing. They no longer give chilli pepper flakes but gave me chilli powder, the kind used for cooking! And it's not cheap. Compared to Sukiya at Suntec, you lose.

The gyudon was fine, but the miso soup portion has become even smaller. My bowl was only half filled – please see the photo. Sometimes people crowd near the ordering kiosk without actually ordering, blocking others. I suggest the staff implement some proactive queue control.

The serving portion is so bad. I ordered a combo salmon with salmon, but the salmon only had 2 pieces and 2 slices of small salmon! Such a small portion size. Malay people doing the serving... do you know this is a small portion for an adult? Does your mom cook you such small portions? Do you know how small the serving is?! $12! It should only be worth $7! It's so small and stingy! Upfront, when I saw it, the portion serving was very small for adults or even children, and it's so expensive! You can't tell from my photo, but the salmon pieces are so small! I used to get 3 pieces of the round salmon. Now it's 2 pieces and more expensive, how can? Yoshinoya isn't stingy, okay? The serving portion is small. Come to think about it, it's not even 2 pieces because they cut them in half. How expensive is that when you buy in bulk? How expensive is that??? Price increases can't be this ridiculous, right? Not even 2 pieces, only consider it one piece because they sliced it in half. The other salmon was also very thinly sliced. Small portion, hello. Now I don't even know if I want to buy it. The vegetables are $5 like that? You're running a business, not grocery shopping for individual packets. Your price must match the servings... everything shrinking can't be right, really. Yoshinoya is a Japanese brand, how can it be like this? I know Yoshinoya's servings are accurate, but this one I really don't understand. $12, no. Salad for $12 has a lot of options. The plate looks nice, and everything looks fine, but the serving, waliew... I finished eating and I'm still not satisfied, I'm not satisfied.

We have dined at this outlet before and normally ordered the teriyaki salmon and beef combo. However today (around 6:10 pm) when we received the food, we were puzzled to note that the teriyaki salmon meat was brown in colour. Previously, the salmon meat was orange with brown teriyaki sauce. We saw a lady service staff who was earlier standing at the cashier counter, then came over to clean a table. We asked her why the salmon colour was like that today, and if there was a change in recipe or chef. We were shocked by her answer, "I don't know, you must ask the kitchen!" So I asked her back, "You are asking me to ask the kitchen staff; aren't they your colleagues?" She replied, "I don't know," and walked away. Very disappointing service. And yes, the salmon portion was very little, only two thin slices.

Seats were available during weekend dinner time. I always order their salmon and beef combo. The food was good at this branch, but their miso soup was a bit salty. There's nothing to comment about their service as it was a self-ordering kiosk and I didn't communicate with any staff.

The food quality and service at this Yoshinoya branch are good for a fast food restaurant. The food is consistently of good quality, and the service is adequate considering they don't have many employees. This particular outlet is spacious with many seats. I frequent this branch and even order food delivery from here. I've never had any problems and always return for their good and consistent beef bowls.

It took them a long while to convert their restaurant into a MUIS halal-certified one. I guess it’s a good thing they did, as it will likely boost their sales a little with more Muslims and consumers from the middle to lower income group (and anyone who’s very frugal with their spending) patronizing their stalls. Price range is pretty average, but they are still far behind their strong competitor Sukiya. Still grateful to have the option for a halal beef bowl in the Bedok Central area, though. Taste-wise, I would think it’s less flavourful than Sukiya (beef gyudon, they also gave lesser beef ), but perhaps it could be isolated to this outlet. The chicken karage curry rice was okay. Their regular portion would be just nice for people who don’t usually eat much for lunch. We also had a small bowl of miso soup, not sure from which set meal. The hot tea (Ito En) is served in a small tea cup. Didn’t ask if refills for hot water were possible, but for $2 a cup, it’s kinda pricey. Would give them a 4.5 stars to be fair. Their service was quite good and fast. Lots of space available for diners even during lunch time hours (around 1 pm on a Sunday). The restaurant feels more like a fast-food chain when compared to the setting of Sukiya’s interior (which feels more like dining in a Japanese beef bowl eatery).

Yoshinoya has improved its product offerings in Singapore over the years. There's a lot more variety on their menu, however, the elements are more or less the same; they've just shuffled the items around a little. That being said, the food is within expectations for the price, and the portions are good. However, with Sukiya joining the fray recently, I expect Yoshinoya to improve its offerings and value proposition in the months to come.
