Dough Culture Pte Ltd has established itself as Singapore's largest manufacturer of You Tiao (Chinese fried dough sticks), revolutionizing traditional Chinese breakfast culture through modern automation and stringent food safety standards while maintaining HACCP and Halal certifications. Founded by Alex Ong after witnessing elderly women working tirelessly through the night to manually knead, roll, and fry dough at traditional stalls, the company was born from a vision to honor their hard work by developing automated dough-making processes that preserve authentic flavors while ensuring consistent quality and food safety. This innovative approach has transformed a labor-intensive traditional craft into a scalable operation that serves multiple outlets across Singapore, from White Sands Shopping Centre in Pasir Ris to major shopping centers like AMK Hub, Causeway Point, and City Square Mall, making authentic You Tiao accessible to modern consumers seeking traditional breakfast experiences.
The core product offering at Dough Culture centers around their signature You Tiao, prepared using automated systems that maintain the traditional taste and texture that Singaporeans expect from this beloved Chinese breakfast staple. Their manufacturing process adheres to the most stringent food safety and hygiene standards, ensuring that each batch meets both HACCP international food safety requirements and local halal certification standards, making their products suitable for Singapore's diverse religious communities. The company's commitment to quality consistency across all retail locations means customers can expect the same authentic You Tiao experience whether they visit their Admiralty Place outlet, Changi City Point location, or any of their other strategically positioned stores throughout Singapore, maintaining the delicate balance of crispy exterior and soft, chewy interior that defines perfect You Tiao.
Dough Culture's success represents a broader trend in Singapore's food industry where traditional recipes meet modern technology to create scalable businesses that preserve cultural heritage while meeting contemporary food safety and accessibility standards. Their expansion to multiple prime retail locations, including major shopping centers and transportation hubs, demonstrates how traditional Chinese breakfast culture can be successfully integrated into Singapore's modern retail landscape. The company's story resonates with Singapore's entrepreneurial spirit, showing how observation of traditional practices can inspire innovative solutions that honor cultural heritage while creating sustainable business models, positioning Dough Culture as both a food manufacturer and a cultural bridge that connects traditional Chinese culinary traditions with modern Singaporean lifestyle demands.

Extremely horrible quality of food, especially the fried snacks. Their signature red bean snack has severely compromised on the quality of its ingredients. As seen from the images, there's 30-50% less red bean stuffing than it used to be. The bun is extremely chewy, signalling that it has not been kneaded well enough. It's a true disappointment to have patronized Dough Culture. Do also note that their dough is not kneaded well enough, making the end product very chewy like rubber. Prices have increased while the quality of services and/or food items have massively plunged. There are better options available where local snacks and finger food are prepared wholesomely, with great flavor and quality.

There are many outlets from Dough Culture, but the service standards here are the worst. The staff were unfriendly and impatient when we visited this outlet on the afternoon of 22 Jul 2022.
We had asked about the difference between their 3-in-1 and 2-in-1 cake. The staff simply answered that it was the ham and proceeded to pack two of the 2-in-1 cakes into the paper bag without asking what we wanted to order.
When we reiterated our question, as we thought the cakes simply meant two for the price of one, she simply brushed us off, saying that she works here and knew what she was doing.
Simply an unpleasant experience buying from this outlet. Definitely not recommended.

I've been wanting to try the You Tiao rojak, so I picked up a set from Tampines Mall. The sauce was packed separately from the you tiao. The box was still warm when I opened it, but it gave off a very strong oily smell. My first bite told me it had either been over-fried, they didn't change the oil regularly, or the you tiao wasn't fresh. I've been a fan of their you tiao, but I've noticed the taste and size aren't the same as before. I wonder if they changed the recipe?!

Paid $20 instead of $11, and the staff refused to refund, saying it was impossible. So I had to pay another $9. I asked for a receipt, but she said it was impossible to give me one because it was my fault for paying extra. I have never experienced such customer service staff. So it's better to make sure she doesn't make mistakes in her own life, because nothing is reversible.

I am very disappointed. I like your products very much, but your service really needs to be improved. When I went to make a purchase, I only had a $50 note and no other cash. The Indian boy at the cashier had a very bad attitude. I paid, but you didn’t give me the correct change and you didn’t communicate well, speaking to me in a very bad manner. I’m very disappointed and won’t eat here again next time.

We are happy that it's vegetarian! This is the second time we've bought food from there. My boyfriend likes their veg porridge a lot. It's tasty! We feel that the staff are friendly.
We are particularly impressed by one of the lady staff members who offered great service (she definitely doesn't have an attitude problem). Her customer service makes us feel happier buying their products. Awesome lady!

Occasionally ordered the porridge 2 set meal which came with a soya bean drink. Like at other places, I noticed it entirely depends on the day-to-day customer service. Sometimes it's great, other times it's the worst. It's always the employees and their rotten work attitude.
The big picture is, sometimes I get a free bundle of youtiao with the set meal, excluding the porridge itself, and pieces of youtiao in separate plastics. I know some coffeeshop standard places will just give porridge and small cuts of youtiao, and that's it.
The food is splendid and is one of my FAVOURITES! It's deliciously cheap, and the porridge had the right quantity compared to every other shop out there that I had to do multiple orders just to have more porridge or with youtiao together, with the added downside of a separate delivery fee.
Keep up the good work, guys!!!
