Encik Tan was established in 2014 to serve the growing demand for authentic Chinese hawker fare among Muslim customers, introducing a halal-certified mini food atrium concept that delivers popular local Chinese dishes. All recipes are meticulously adapted using halal ingredients and fine-tuned to deliver the same nostalgic flavour and taste of the original dishes while maintaining full halal compliance.
The menu features beloved local favorites including Hainanese Curry Rice with options like Chicken, Chicken Drumstick, Fried Fish, Fried Prawn, and Sambal Sotong served with fragrant rice and rich curry. Additional offerings include Wanton Noodles, Fishball Noodles, Ban Mian, Laksa, and Claypot Rice, ensuring a comprehensive selection of Chinese hawker classics.
With more than 18 halal-certified outlets across Singapore, including locations at Alexandra Retail Centre, Bedok Mall, Changi Airport Terminal 3, 313@Somerset, and Compass One, Encik Tan has made authentic Chinese cuisine accessible to Muslim diners throughout the island. The restaurant's commitment to preserving traditional flavors while adapting to halal requirements has earned positive reviews for dishes like their crispy chicken cutlet with moist meat and well-seasoned curry sauce that balances spice with subtle sweetness.

Assuming she was the manager because she was wearing red, she was shouting at us when we couldn't hear her properly that the items were unavailable, as her English isn't fluent. She only stated that a specific noodle was available, and we said it was alright and chose a menu item. Then she shouted at us to say it wasn't available. Quite rude, I would say. Not the customer service you would expect. Please do something about this, as it's not just a staff member but someone who holds a higher position. Where's the professionalism?

Spacious and clean, not noisy as it was off-peak. Ordered the dry premium minced meat noodles for $7 and kopi tarik for $1+ (I forgot the exact price). The fried wanton was stale. Liked the hotate and fried fish (扁鱼) added for the premium option. The aunty asked some questions to confirm my order of mee kia with chilli and vinegar, minus spring onion. She explained that no ketchup is added if chilli is opted for. She double confirmed if vinegar was okay. She omitted the spring onion from my bowl of soup but added a big handful into my bowl of noodles. The kopi tarik was just normal kopi, with no foam. And yes, it was made by a very fierce staff member who didn't smile even when I smiled at her.

Visited this outlet so many times and they always have the same shitty attitude. We ordered with the uncle and he assumed we were taking away, but when we said we were eating here, he gave us attitude. They are always saying their products are sold out or left a bit when it's not even closing hours. Please recruit someone who at least knows basic customer service, thank you.

I ordered the fried fish set. The actual fish was much smaller than pictured because it was very thickly coated with batter, making it look bigger than it really is. The curry was okay, but the cabbage was too overcooked and soggy. I guess with the egg, veg, and fish, the price is pretty reasonable.

The queue was a bit long at that time due to an event at the stadium, especially for the noodle menu. We ordered Fishball Noodles, Chicken Curry Rice, and Teh Tarik. Overall, the taste was a bit bland, including the teh tarik. The curry was actually quite tasty, but I think they should add more curry sauce. I heard their Laksa is good, but we didn't manage to try it. Overall, it is a value-for-money option, with affordable prices and fulfilling portions. They are also halal certified!

Absolutely love their chicken cutlet set! I personally call this the halal version of the famous Scissors Cut Curry Rice.
A couple of feedbacks are that the chicken cutlet and curry portions are inconsistent. Sometimes they give you a little bit more chicken, sometimes less. Sometimes topped with a generous amount of curry and sometimes not.
Even when I told the staff to give me more curry, they wouldn’t do so… maybe they didn’t hear me?
Anyway, good, flavourful, and tasty. Highly recommended!

I had a delightful experience at the noodle counter yesterday, all thanks to the wonderful lady who served me. From the moment I approached the counter, her incredibly polite and warm demeanor instantly made me feel welcome. It's rare to come across someone who genuinely cares about customer service, but she went above and beyond.
Not only was she attentive and courteous, but the noodles she prepared were absolutely delicious. Her dedication to her work and her customers truly shines through, and she has the ability to brighten anyone's day with her positive attitude. It's hard to find such exceptional staff in Singapore nowadays, and I am extremely touched by her service. I would highly recommend anyone to visit just for the experience of being served by her.

Encik Tan serves a variety of hawker food such as fishball noodles, wonton noodles, laksa, and rice sets. This outlet is located at Kallang Wave Mall. We had lunch here before attending a concert at the National Stadium Singapore. The dishes for the rice sets are already cooked, so you will receive your order directly after payment.
I tried the Chicken Cutlet Set (SGD 4.30). It's a plateful of warm rice, chicken cutlets, a sunny-side-up egg, and vegetables, topped with curry sauce. Overall, the food tastes good with a generous portion and a very affordable price. A great option if you're looking for halal food, as they have a MUIS halal certificate.
