Located primarily at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Mount Alvernia Medical Centre, Polar Cafe provides a convenient dining solution for those spending extended time in medical facilities. The cafe operates as part of the broader Polar family, which has secured over 90 years in Singapore's food industry since 1926, bringing decades of culinary expertise and halal certification to the healthcare environment. This specialized positioning allows Polar Cafe to serve a unique niche market while maintaining the high standards and halal integrity that the Polar brand has been known for across generations.

While Polar Cafe's menu offerings are more streamlined compared to the extensive Polar Puffs & Cakes bakery chain, they maintain the brand's commitment to quality baked goods and refreshments suitable for the medical facility environment. The cafe provides essential food services including light meals, beverages, and selected baked items that cater to the needs of healthcare workers, patients' families, and visitors who require convenient, halal-certified dining options during medical visits. The connection to Polar Puffs & Cakes ensures access to the brand's signature items when appropriate, including their famous curry puffs and various pastries that have been customer favorites for decades. The halal certification maintained across all Polar establishments ensures that Muslim customers can confidently choose from the available offerings without dietary concerns.

Polar Cafe's significance extends beyond typical food service by providing comfort and familiarity during often stressful hospital visits, serving as a reliable source of quality refreshments when people need them most. The strategic placement within medical facilities demonstrates Polar's understanding of community needs and their commitment to serving Singapore's diverse population in various settings. As part of the broader Polar ecosystem that includes over 30 bakery locations across Singapore, Polar Cafe contributes to the brand's mission of making quality halal baked goods accessible throughout the island. The cafe's presence in healthcare settings reflects Singapore's commitment to inclusive dining options and ensures that dietary requirements are respected even in specialized institutional environments.

Alice is very rude. When I asked for warm kopi, she retorted, "You expect us to add tap water???" She could have simply said they don't have warm water. What an attitude! Then she added, "I am just telling you the truth, we add tap water," with no apology. Dear management, I don't think you are sincerely sorry for our bad experience with your staff. After so many bad reviews, she's still standing tall. Tell me some other things we don't know.

It's getting irritating with the plastic bag charge. If you want to earn this plastic bag money, then just charge it in the food immediately. Do not irritate the customer! Do you all buy a plastic bag at 5 cents each?

Nicely decorated and clean. However, it is stuffy inside and the air conditioning is almost non-existent. Service is fast and prompt. The Kopi O is good and reasonably priced at $1.40. The curry puff, however, is expensive and without much filling, as you can see from the picture. I don't think I'll come back again.

Had a very bad experience with a staff member named Maggie. I walked into the shop and saw only three cakes on display. I politely asked if they offered more than the three cakes that were being displayed. To my surprise, Maggie said, "Obviously don't have what," while rolling her eyes at me. I then proceeded to order a cake that was on display. Afterwards, she asked me something which I didn't quite hear. I said, "Sorry, I couldn't hear you." Maggie then shouted, "Do you want candles or not?" At this point, I was fuming at how blatantly rude she was. I was frankly embarrassed as well because all the customers in the shop paused and looked at us. There was absolutely no need for her to be rude. To any potential customers who wish to patronize Polar at TTSH, be wary of Maggie. She is indeed blatantly rude and unwelcoming. Other than that, the food is great here!

Why are places selling food starting to charge for plastic bags even when purchasing multiple items.

Why are places selling food starting to charge for plastic bags, even when purchasing multiple items? It makes the whole experience a hassle to take food out. If you are going to start charging for plastic bags, please remove branding and logos from them.

I'd like to commend the cashier staff. Her name seemed to be Nazrinah, though I couldn't be completely sure as her badge was faded. I truly appreciated her professionalism. (Visited on 13 May 2025)

☕️ We ordered Polar curry puffs, eclairs & a log of butter cake for tea time recently via Grab Delivery from the Mt Alveria Hospital's Polar Puffs outlet. ️ The cakes and savoury pastries were, as usual, delicious and tasty. ✳️ Polar Puffs remains an all-time favourite and reliable bakery for me, offering good quality bakes that I can count on. *************************************** My memories ----------------- Did you know that Polar Cafe's original shop was at High Street? In the early 1970s, my Peranakan father took me there a few times. I was very small then, maybe only 5 or 6 years old, so I only have a faint memory of the cafe. ‍♀️ It was many years later that I realised that was the original Polar Cafe of High Street. ___________________________________ The history / memories of Polar Puffs Cafe at High Street. High Street / Singapore (1950s till 1970s). ******************************************* ☕ My late father used to take me to Polar Cafe at 51 High Street in the early 1970s. I have faint but lovely memories of the cafe. I do remember eating the curry puffs and their famed sugar rolls. ● At the old Polar Cafe at High Street in the distant past, I distinctly recall climbing a short flight of steps to the second floor and sitting at a small square table next to an open window with a view of the nearby Singapore River. I still remember the white, large round lamp hanging above us, and the small white table where we sat. ● When seated, I barely reached the height of the table. At some point, I got down from the chair and inched my way gingerly towards the open windows to get a better view of the surroundings. I recall clearly seeing a thin sliver of the Singapore River and at that time, I thought to myself, "wah, there is a river here." I love viewing canals and streams, you see. ● Because there were not many tall buildings in those days, I was able to view the Singapore River from my vantage point on the 2nd floor of the cafe. That is the only memory I have of Polar Cafe. There were some 1960s-style rattan or wicker chairs on the first floor. I was only about 5 to 7 years old. That is all I can remember.

A relatively chill place where you can get their nostalgic cake rolls or puff pastries. I always love the warmth and crunchy texture of the puff pastries, and their sugar roll, coffee peanut roll, and ondeh ondeh rolls remind me of childhood! The place is usually crowded, but there are tables and seats available for you to enjoy your cake and snacks. The staff are pretty alright and accommodating; you just have to be clear with your order, otherwise, they might get confused. They also have a chilled section with soups, salads, and sandwiches for the health-conscious, as it's located in a hospital.

The staff were friendly and polite. The puffs were warm and tasty. However, I was a little disappointed with the chicken pie; it didn't taste as nice as before.
