Polar Cafe represents the hospitality-focused extension of the renowned Polar Puffs & Cakes legacy, operating strategically within Singapore's healthcare institutions to serve both medical staff and visitors with quality halal-certified refreshments. Located primarily at Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Mount Alvernia Medical Centre, Polar Cafe provides a convenient dining solution for those spending extended time in medical facilities. The cafe operates as part of the broader Polar family, which has secured over 90 years in Singapore's food industry since 1926, bringing decades of culinary expertise and halal certification to the healthcare environment. This specialized positioning allows Polar Cafe to serve a unique niche market while maintaining the high standards and halal integrity that the Polar brand has been known for across generations.
While Polar Cafe's menu offerings are more streamlined compared to the extensive Polar Puffs & Cakes bakery chain, they maintain the brand's commitment to quality baked goods and refreshments suitable for the medical facility environment. The cafe provides essential food services including light meals, beverages, and selected baked items that cater to the needs of healthcare workers, patients' families, and visitors who require convenient, halal-certified dining options during medical visits. The connection to Polar Puffs & Cakes ensures access to the brand's signature items when appropriate, including their famous curry puffs and various pastries that have been customer favorites for decades. The halal certification maintained across all Polar establishments ensures that Muslim customers can confidently choose from the available offerings without dietary concerns.
Polar Cafe's significance extends beyond typical food service by providing comfort and familiarity during often stressful hospital visits, serving as a reliable source of quality refreshments when people need them most. The strategic placement within medical facilities demonstrates Polar's understanding of community needs and their commitment to serving Singapore's diverse population in various settings. As part of the broader Polar ecosystem that includes over 30 bakery locations across Singapore, Polar Cafe contributes to the brand's mission of making quality halal baked goods accessible throughout the island. The cafe's presence in healthcare settings reflects Singapore's commitment to inclusive dining options and ensures that dietary requirements are respected even in specialized institutional environments.

One of the staff members left the toilet without washing her hands. I'm concerned about food safety if handwashing isn't being followed after using the restroom.

Hi Polar; honestly, your cakes are nice, your puffs are nice, and your pastries and other food available are also nice. However, here at SGH 6/7, your dining area is sometimes a bit dirty and messy. You have four workers inside, with two of them handling the cashier, another making drinks, and I'm not sure what the fourth person is doing in the kitchen. Haha. Your shop is located inside SGH, and we as visitors expect everywhere in SGH to be clean. I apologize, but not everyone will wipe the table after using it. So, I think it would be better if you had someone cleaning the tables and floor in the dining area. I would appreciate that a lot. Thank you, Polar! By the way, sometimes birds fly in and eat what's left on the floor. Haha ♂️

A regular outlet for Polar cakes. They offer a wide selection of cakes, pastries, and drinks. The service crew is prompt and fuss-free. However, the location of the cashier means you need to remember the names of the items you want to buy before ordering, rather than ordering at the food display area and then proceeding to the cashier. This is a minor inconvenience for those who are unsure or need visual cues to decide what they want to buy. The seating area is decent, though tables and seats are limited.

I would like to give feedback on an unpleasant experience I had with one of the male staff at the counter. When I ordered four chicken rendang puffs, he did not ask whether I wanted them packed together or separately. I also wasn’t aware that I had to mention this at the start of the order.
He mumbled something about the puffs not being hot, which I struggled to catch, so I didn’t immediately say anything about the packing. While I was still trying to process what he said, another staff member began packing the puffs into a box. I quickly pointed out that I wanted them packed separately.
Instead of helping, the male staff told me off and questioned why I didn’t say it earlier, even though only one puff had been packed in. I apologised and asked if it could be separated, and he then started “educating” me that I should inform them earlier, though I feel this could have been handled more politely and professionally.
His attitude really gave off a negative vibe. I actually intended to purchase more items, but because of how I was treated, I decided not to. It’s disappointing to be made to feel like I was a burden or nuisance, just for asking something reasonable. Customers shouldn't be made to feel this way; it really affected the experience for me.
I hope this feedback can be taken constructively. Perhaps some staff training or service reminders could help improve the customer experience in the future. I really enjoy Polar products, but experiences like this are quite discouraging.

Surprised to find a polar cafe here! Their chicken pie and Swiss roll (forgot to take a pic) were good, and I loved the tomato penne. It's takeaway food, but there are seats available. The food is quite tasty considering it's microwave food, but you can tell it's freshly made.
Had a cup of Teh O too, and it was good! Not too 'siap' (strong/sweet).

I visited Polar on a weekday morning just before my appointment at SGH. I was in a wheelchair but was attended to by the kind gentleman, Yap Wei Ting, who helped me take my order at the counter. He went above and beyond, asking me to stay at the counter and personally passed all the food and drink items to me, so I did not have to roll my wheelchair to the pick-up point. Great job!

Great Kopi/Teh from this place. Though small, they have a wide variety of snacks and savoury food to choose from. They provide tables and chairs for people to take a break and have a quick snack! Also love that their pastries are always served warm and crispy, possibly due to high turnover. Pastries get sold out, and staff are constantly baking new batches to refill!
