Cat & the Fiddle has pioneered Singapore's premium halal dessert market as the city's first online halal-certified cheesecake specialist, founded by award-winning celebrity chef Daniel Tay, who also established the renowned Bakerzin brand. This innovative bakery concept revolutionized dessert accessibility for Muslim consumers by obtaining halal certification for artisanal cheesecake production, creating a market segment that previously didn't exist in Singapore's dessert landscape. The brand has been recognized by Time Out Singapore as one of the 'Best cake shops in Singapore,' demonstrating that halal certification and premium quality are not mutually exclusive in the competitive dessert market.

The bakery's signature offering includes 18 varieties of gourmet cheesecakes ranging from faithful classics to Asian and local-inspired creations that reflect Singapore's multicultural palate. Their specially-composed medley cakes allow customers to experience 10 spectacular flavors in a single purchase, showcasing the kitchen's technical expertise and creativity in balancing diverse flavor profiles. Each cheesecake is crafted using fresh, premium ingredients and classical pastry techniques refined through Chef Daniel Tay's international training and experience. The brand's commitment to quality extends from ingredient sourcing through final presentation, ensuring that every cake meets the exacting standards expected from award-winning pastry craftsmanship.

After establishing a strong online presence, Cat & the Fiddle expanded to physical retail locations at Clarke Quay Central, City Square Mall, Junction 8 Shopping Centre, and Woods Square, offering customers both convenient online ordering with delivery options and personalized in-store experiences where they can sample cakes by the slice. This hybrid retail model demonstrates the brand's understanding of diverse customer preferences while maintaining operational efficiency. The bakery's success represents more than commercial achievement; it symbolizes the expansion of halal-certified premium dessert options in Singapore, proving that religious dietary requirements can be seamlessly integrated into high-end culinary experiences while maintaining the authenticity and quality that discerning dessert enthusiasts demand.

Repeated customer for the nice cheesecakes however we experienced terrible customer service by staff

Repeated customer for the nice cheesecakes, however, we experienced terrible customer service from staff member Keng. We were redeeming a Burpple membership deal for free slices of cheesecake. Keng quickly redeemed the deal without looking at the details and then asked to see the T&Cs. However, we were unable to load back the T&Cs since she had already claimed the deal. She then acted irritable, as if it was our fault, and had a sour face throughout, even snapping at us when we asked her questions.

Disappointed. The cheesecake tasted okay (the yuzu was good, but the apple crumble was not), but I received no warning that it was frozen. I got home and had to wait for it to thaw before eating. A little heads-up from the server would have been appreciated.

Outlet is at level 1 ground level . Ordered 4 slices , The flavours are : Yuan Yang ( coffee n tea

The outlet is at level 1, ground level. I ordered 4 slices. The flavours were Yuan Yang (coffee & tea), tiramisu, yuzu, and the original New York cheesecake. Four slices for a total of $27.80 works out to be around $6 plus to nearly $7 per slice. The flavours were average, not something that will make you go back for more. The yuzu cheesecake was slightly more memorable. The price is not cheap considering each slice is very small. To put it into perspective, a slice from Cedele or Coffee Bean cheesecake can be equivalent to two of these slices.

The cake is nice, but the service is really bad. The two aunties always working there are really rude. They always talk to customers so rudely when we order cake for collection. I hope the management can take note of the staff in this branch; it's not the first time many have complained about these aunties here.

If you’re looking for a cake that’ll impress both in looks and taste, this is the place to go! I ordered a cake for a small party and it was a hit! Everyone loved The Fickle Feline — it was rich, smooth, and had just the right balance of flavor. The whole process was super easy, and the cake arrived looking picture-perfect. Honestly, not much to critique here — but it would be nice to have more seasonal or limited-time flavors to switch things up now and then. Great cakes, smooth ordering, and lots of happy guests. Definitely worth checking out for parties, celebrations, or just treating yourself!

Was so excited to try the cake that I ate it before taking a photo! The cake was ordered online and we collected it at the City Square branch. The service staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the cakes. This is the chocolate banana cake and it tastes great! We could taste the cheese, the chocolate, and the banana. The combination of flavours is just right, and the texture of the cake is rich.
