Cat & the Fiddle has pioneered Singapore's premium halal dessert market as the city's first online halal-certified cheesecake specialist, founded by award-winning celebrity chef Daniel Tay, who also established the renowned Bakerzin brand. This innovative bakery concept revolutionized dessert accessibility for Muslim consumers by obtaining halal certification for artisanal cheesecake production, creating a market segment that previously didn't exist in Singapore's dessert landscape. The brand has been recognized by Time Out Singapore as one of the 'Best cake shops in Singapore,' demonstrating that halal certification and premium quality are not mutually exclusive in the competitive dessert market.
The bakery's signature offering includes 18 varieties of gourmet cheesecakes ranging from faithful classics to Asian and local-inspired creations that reflect Singapore's multicultural palate. Their specially-composed medley cakes allow customers to experience 10 spectacular flavors in a single purchase, showcasing the kitchen's technical expertise and creativity in balancing diverse flavor profiles. Each cheesecake is crafted using fresh, premium ingredients and classical pastry techniques refined through Chef Daniel Tay's international training and experience. The brand's commitment to quality extends from ingredient sourcing through final presentation, ensuring that every cake meets the exacting standards expected from award-winning pastry craftsmanship.
After establishing a strong online presence, Cat & the Fiddle expanded to physical retail locations at Clarke Quay Central, City Square Mall, Junction 8 Shopping Centre, and Woods Square, offering customers both convenient online ordering with delivery options and personalized in-store experiences where they can sample cakes by the slice. This hybrid retail model demonstrates the brand's understanding of diverse customer preferences while maintaining operational efficiency. The bakery's success represents more than commercial achievement; it symbolizes the expansion of halal-certified premium dessert options in Singapore, proving that religious dietary requirements can be seamlessly integrated into high-end culinary experiences while maintaining the authenticity and quality that discerning dessert enthusiasts demand.

I was at the J8 outlet yesterday to enjoy the “Buy 3 Get 3” promotion. I picked out three flavours I wanted, which were all in the lower $5.90-$6.90 range. The service staff attending to me then said I could pick out any flavour I liked for the next three, including those in the premium range like MSW or Lychee Roselle. So I did, but when it was time to pay, I found I was being charged for the premium flavours. While the difference was only a few dollars, I felt I was misled by the salesperson. I also concur with the not insignificant number of earlier reviews that the slices are actually pretty small, or appear to be getting smaller and smaller, while prices keep going up. You can see for yourself how small the slice is on a normal-size paper plate. This was not a great experience.

To each their own, but I will not eat their cakes unless this issue is resolved – and it wasn't for me. On April 26th, I ordered the Oreo cheesecake from their Bishan outlet. The cake tasted sour, more so than usual (I've eaten this cake multiple times and know its taste). I initially thought they might have changed the brand of cream cheese. It tasted odd but still within an acceptable range. So, I continued eating it, and my family did too. On April 27th, we woke up with stomachaches. The common food we had eaten was the cake. I checked the expiry date just in case, but there was none on the box. How would we know if it's safe to eat then? I immediately called HQ to inquire. They informed me they use a batch number, not an expiry date. However, a batch number is an internal system, and customers wouldn't understand it. Without an expiry date, it implies they could potentially sell an expired cake without the customer knowing? The representative assured me it wasn't expired, but there was no assurance or expiry date tagged to the batch I received. I explained what happened, that we ate the cake and got a stomachache. While I was explaining, the lady on the phone actually put the phone down (or perhaps away from her face) and didn't respond. I asked if she heard my concerns. She then became rude and said, 'You want to test the cake then go test lor.' I was taken aback. I'm unsure if the cream cheese was left out for too long and spoiled during the process, or perhaps expired cream cheese or other ingredients were used. I've eaten this cake many times and genuinely liked it. BUT, despite getting a stomachache from their food, I received no assurance that it was safe or that any measures were taken, AND on top of that, I experienced a rude conversation. I wasted over $40 and had to discard the remaining 3/4+ of the cake. Hello person in charge, I brought this sour-tasting Oreo cheesecake back to your Bishan outlet on April 28th, 2023. The counter lady, Jayce, said she would check on the issue with the cake and inform the office to contact me with a report. Therefore, I would humbly suggest including the expiry date on the packaging so customers know when to discard it, instead of feeling unwell from spoiled food. No refund is needed; however, I am requesting an explanation and closure on this matter! I have been a patron of this brand for a few years now and hope I can trust it enough to continue enjoying your delightful cakes without worry.

I just wanted to write feedback for this young man who served me and my colleagues very well on 22 Aug 2025. Thank you so much for your good service towards me and my colleagues, Danish. We really appreciate his kindness, even though his partner, another guy, was so rude and arrogant. But we love the way he solves our problems and always smiles towards customers without fail . Once again, thank you, Danish.

A tiny corner in Junction 8, next to Osaka Osho and near LIHO, the shop logo pops up quite obviously. The menu is comprehensive. I bought the original Over the Moon (New York cheesecake). The cheesecake was slightly melted to perfection, extremely creamy and rich, but not so rich that it became jelat. The sweetness was just right, not too sweet, but also not bland. The packaging is small and cute, perfect for a picnic. The biscuit base is also very crunchy and not soggy or too buttery, which is difficult to achieve in a cheesecake. I will definitely be coming back to buy more for my birthday party, even though the price is a little high. The original flavour is $5.90 per slice, but most flavours are priced at around $6.90 per slice.

The staff are polite and friendly. I bought two cakes - lychee and tiramisu. I loved the tiramisu; it tasted just right with the coffee. It would be even nicer if their ladyfingers had a bit more. The lychee flavour tasted just normal, nothing special. I will come back to try more flavours.
By the way, the cake is a bit small compared to the default sizes in the market.

My sister gave me a cake redemption voucher in August. I kept forgetting to redeem it as the name of the cake shop didn’t really appeal to me as a Cake Specialist.

So I went for a handset upgrade at J8 SingTel. Coincidentally, the shop was just next to it.
So I redeemed it.
Surprisingly, the cheesecake is nice!!
Out of the 6 different flavours, I chose the plain one (with biscuit crumbs on top).
If the plain one is already nice, I assume that the rest are good too!
Probably finishing up the rest in the next few days..
