Encik Tan was established in 2014 to serve the growing demand for authentic Chinese hawker fare among Muslim customers, introducing a halal-certified mini food atrium concept that delivers popular local Chinese dishes. All recipes are meticulously adapted using halal ingredients and fine-tuned to deliver the same nostalgic flavour and taste of the original dishes while maintaining full halal compliance.
The menu features beloved local favorites including Hainanese Curry Rice with options like Chicken, Chicken Drumstick, Fried Fish, Fried Prawn, and Sambal Sotong served with fragrant rice and rich curry. Additional offerings include Wanton Noodles, Fishball Noodles, Ban Mian, Laksa, and Claypot Rice, ensuring a comprehensive selection of Chinese hawker classics.
With more than 18 halal-certified outlets across Singapore, including locations at Alexandra Retail Centre, Bedok Mall, Changi Airport Terminal 3, 313@Somerset, and Compass One, Encik Tan has made authentic Chinese cuisine accessible to Muslim diners throughout the island. The restaurant's commitment to preserving traditional flavors while adapting to halal requirements has earned positive reviews for dishes like their crispy chicken cutlet with moist meat and well-seasoned curry sauce that balances spice with subtle sweetness.

The food is okay and pretty cheap, comparable to hawker centre prices, especially considering its location right in the mall. However, one of the staff members, a lady, seemed indifferent and unwilling to communicate with customers. While I don't expect to find a soulmate here, I do need proper communication to understand what to expect, such as where to order food, as I later realized there were two stalls inside the "restaurant." I was waiting for my drink, and no one said anything, even though I asked multiple times. Finally, when I noticed a drink in a different corner that looked more like a display, I asked if it was mine, and she confirmed it was. This kind of staff attitude is why customers often prefer tablet orders, machines, or artificial intelligence over dealing with human inefficiency.

The food is reasonably priced and the noodles taste good. There's a long queue during peak hours as only one old uncle is cooking the noodles. With 6-7 other staff in the shop, perhaps one more person could help prepare the noodles?

They have many branches, and this particular one is the worst. The service is bad and disorganized.
I tried a few times hoping it would improve, but sadly it hasn't. For example, they wouldn't automatically cut up the chicken cutlet, which all the other branches do without being asked. You also have to separately tell someone else for drinks, despite already ordering them the first time.
The coffee sat there so long that it turned sour, and the cutlet is sometimes not fresh.

The food is terrible, and the service is damn bad. As for the price... it seems like a poor business model. The Holland Drive Hawker Centre is not far from this place. I would recommend any food stall in Holland Drive Hawker Centre over this "Encik Tan food court." Soon, this place will likely follow the same path as the Koufu food court on the first floor of The Star Vista.

Good food with average pricing. Only two stalls are available: curry rice and noodles. It's advisable to come earlier during lunch to avoid long queues. The space is good, balanced for both small (4 people) and larger (6 people) groups. It's also convenient for traveling back via shuttle bus as the stop is just outside the shop.

I thought it would be hard to find halal food in Singapore, but I found it within walking distance (from Park Avenue Hotel). You should try the Signature Noodle; it's quite unique.

Super affordable and tasty meals. I particularly like the $4.50 chicken drumstick curry rice set, which comes with a generous helping of stewed vegetables (chap chye), a fried egg, and delicious curry. The chicken cutlet set is really yummy as well. Both are filling and leave you craving them the next day! As for the noodles, ask for them without tomato sauce for a more authentic flavour!

Strolling around Star Vista and ended up at Encik Tan. Pleasantly surprised that the local fare is actually quite good. You can get heaps of local favourites like fish ball noodles, wanton noodles, laksa, curry rice with chicken cutlet, fried fish, prawn fritters, or sambal squid. They also serve decent kopi and teh... all food is halal certified. Reasonable prices. Sedap!

Great variety of food! It's a halal eating place. The curry rice set comes with a choice of chicken cutlet, chicken drumstick, fried prawn, fish, or sotong (squid). For noodles, they offer 9 varieties and also 2 set meals to choose from. However, the staff at this outlet are not as friendly as those at other branches I've visited.
