Tokyo Shokudo has carved out a distinctive niche in Singapore's competitive dining scene by offering authentic Japanese cuisine with full halal certification, making genuine Japanese flavors accessible to Muslim diners. Since its establishment in 2017, this restaurant chain has expanded to multiple prime locations including Westgate, City Square Mall, and AMK Hub, each serving as a gateway to traditional Japanese culinary experiences.
The comprehensive menu showcases the depth of Japanese cuisine, from soul-warming ramen varieties including their signature Chicken Cha Shu Black Mayu Ramen and fiery Duck Spicy Ramen, to traditional donburi bowls and tempura sets. Their Asakusa Tendon represents the perfect marriage of crispy tempura and fluffy rice, while the diverse ramen selection caters to different spice tolerances and flavor preferences.
What distinguishes Tokyo Shokudo is their unwavering commitment to authenticity while maintaining halal standards. The restaurant operates with the precision and attention to detail that Japanese cuisine demands, ensuring each bowl of ramen achieves the perfect balance of flavors. With operating hours from noon to 9:30PM daily and reasonable pricing ranging from $9.90 to $18.90, Tokyo Shokudo makes authentic Japanese dining both accessible and affordable for all Singaporeans.

If you're ushered to the tables at the back of the restaurant, I would recommend bringing a fan as you're going to sweat.
The food replenishments slow down from 8:15 PM onwards; by 8:30 PM, the buffet area is almost empty.
Water is not served; it's chargeable at $2 a bottle. Alternatively, they have free-flow tea and juice at $1.90.

Tried the weekday lunch buffet. Drinks are an additional $1.99/pax.
Overall... not terrible, not good, just okay.
You choose a hotpot and get free-flow meats and a buffet bar with hotpot ingredients, cooked dishes, appetizers, etc.
- Hotpot - okay
- Free-flow meat - beef has good marbling
- Curry rice - …can’t say it’s good or bad
- Appetizers - Sushi is basically two variants of California roll without avocado. Actually good though.
- Hotpot ingredients - okay selection of veggies, mushrooms, meats, tofu
- Cooked food - okay pizza/fries. Weird omelet pancake thing that's dry. Karaage is only available for dinner and weekends. Tastes okay.
Main disappointment is the DIY sauce has no garlic and spring onions.
Everything else is just okay.

Dined in for their hotpot buffet for 3 people. We ordered the Mt Fuji Beef Sukiyaki, Hokkaido Chicken & Seafood Ishikari Nabe, and Sapporo Chicken & Seafood Curry Soup. The first two hotpots were satisfactory, with nothing much to complain or compliment. The last hotpot, the curry soup, tasted like diluted mee soto, nothing like Japanese curry. The service was slow even without a large crowd. Cooked food replenishment was also slow. Plates and bowls at the buffet section were not replenished either. A group of ladies beside our table left without ordering anything after finding out that the buffet cooked food section wasn't replenished quickly.

First time here after seeing a large banner in the middle of Plaza Singapura, so I thought of giving it a try. It was a weekday lunch, so there was no need to wait. I ordered the beef sukiyaki. The soup was very salty, so I asked the waitress to add hot water to dilute it. I ordered four beef slices, but one of them was empty. The sushi was a bit hard and dry. The pizza was not bad. The beef curry was tasty and went well with rice. The ice cream was a good conclusion to the meal. A plus is that it's halal. Overall, it's a comfortable dining space, but the quality of the food is mid.

We had lunch here and got their promotional hotpot lunch buffet for $19.80++. The beef quality is good. Of the 4 types of soup, I tried their sukiyaki, which was not bad. The variety of buffet items is limited, but you get what you pay for. Staff Fong was attentive and nice! The downside was the table we were seated at was so hot, with no air conditioning. It felt suffocating without ventilation. Imagine perspiring while eating hotpot! So, we didn't really enjoy the meal we had; it was just too bad. Hopefully, they can fix their air conditioning to have a well-ventilated atmosphere.

Value for money, the quality of food is okay too. I didn't have high expectations for a $30+ buffet. I just came to try, but I probably won't come again.

I had the hotpot buffet and it was filling. The portion was enough and the service staff were friendly. Will patronise again soon. I will recommend the sukiyaki beef as it goes well with the noodles. The beef portion for the Mount Fuji beef is overwhelming and it’s delicious.

I had an amazing dining experience here! The hotpot ingredients were very fresh – from the juicy prawns and clams to the beautifully marbled beef. Each pot came packed with colorful vegetables, mushrooms, and noodles, making it both hearty and healthy. The soup base was rich in flavor, and the dipping sauces paired perfectly. The staff was attentive and ensured our table was always taken care of. Definitely a great place to enjoy a warm and delicious meal with family or friends!

Contemplating a buffet dinner here after reading the reviews, but decided to just go ahead and try. The food was good, and I loved the soup. For the price on a weekend, the food variety was just nice. The beef sukiyaki soup is definitely a must-try. I will surely return again. The only slight drawback was the service while waiting for a seat, as they seemed busy even during non-peak hours. Also, I'm unsure if we could ask for more beef slices or if it was free flow, as no one informed us. However, we all had a great dinner after all.
